Kahalgaon: 'World Anti-Drug Day' Observed with a Vow for a Drug-Free Society; Awareness Camp Held at the Civil Court
Kahalgaon (Bhagalpur): On the occasion of 'World Anti-Drug Day,' a grand awareness camp was organized at the Kahalgaon Civil Court premises. The primary objective of this program was to sensitize society to the ill effects of drug abuse and to build a healthy, drug-free environment. Held under the aegis of the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Authority, the camp saw judicial officers, advocates, and intellectuals of society collectively resolve to say "no" to drugs and "yes" to life.
A Collective Vow for a Drug-Free Life
The program was presided over by Akhilesh Kumar, Chairman of the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Authority. Addressing those present during the camp, he stated that drug abuse not only ruins the health of an individual but also serves as a curse for the entire family and society. He emphasized that legal awareness is the only medium through which we can prevent the new generation from falling into this trap.
On this occasion, judicial officers, panel advocates, and court staff took a collective oath. Everyone pledged that they would not only stay away from drugs themselves but also make those around them aware of its dangers and play an active role in making society drug-free.
Legal Perspective Against Drug Abuse
Speakers present at the camp also highlighted the legal challenges associated with drug abuse. Panel advocates explained that the consumption and trade of narcotics are not only harmful to health but also constitute serious criminal offenses under the law, for which there are provisions for stringent punishment.
Akhilesh Kumar remarked, "It is the endeavor of the Legal Services Authority to ensure that every citizen receives the message that drug abuse is not a solution to any problem, but rather the beginning of many. Starting from our court premises, we must carry this campaign to the most remote villages."
Awareness is the Best Defense
During the program, those present acknowledged that addiction, especially among the youth, is rising rapidly, largely due to a lack of awareness. Speakers suggested that such awareness programs should be organized regularly in schools, colleges, and public places. A large number of litigants participating in the camp at the Civil Court premises were provided with information about the ill effects of drugs through pamphlets.
A Resolve Felt Within the Court Premises
The impact of Anti-Drug Day was visible throughout the day at the Kahalgaon court premises. Discussions on the subject continued among advocates, who decided to also sensitize their clients regarding the issue. The program concluded with a short rally where participants raised slogans against drug abuse and called for societal awareness.
This awareness camp sent a clear message that a healthy and progressive society can only be built with the cooperation of every section of society. This step taken by the Kahalgaon Civil Court is an important milestone in achieving the goal of a drug-free society.
