Railway Vigilant About Safety During Monsoon; Senior DEN Aaseet Kumar Conducts Surprise Inspection of Khagaria-Naugachia Rail Section

Naugachia: With the monsoon season active, the Sonpur Division is on high alert to ensure the safety of railway operations. In line with this, Senior DEN (Divisional Engineer) of the Sonpur Division, Aaseet Kumar, conducted an intensive inspection of the railway section between Khagaria and Naugachia stations on Friday. During the inspection, he assessed track safety, drainage systems, and potential hazards posed by the rainy season, issuing strict directives to subordinate officials.

Prioritizing Safety: A Meticulous Track Assessment

Senior DEN Aaseet Kumar surveyed the entire rail section using a special tower wagon. The primary objective of the inspection was to evaluate potential issues affecting the tracks during the rainy days. He meticulously examined the condition of the rail tracks, sleepers, and fishplates.

Addressing the issue of waterlogging near the tracks during the inspection, the Senior DEN directed officials to ensure the immediate cleaning of drains to facilitate proper water drainage. He emphasized that stagnant water near the tracks poses a significant threat to rail safety and must be treated as a top priority.

Strict Directives Issued to Officials

During a meeting held on-site with local railway engineers and technical staff, Aaseet Kumar issued several essential directives:

Strict Track Patrolling: Orders have been issued to double track patrolling during the monsoon. 'Trackmen' patrolling at night have been instructed to remain highly vigilant.

Identification of Vulnerable Spots: Sections of the rail track prone to soil erosion during floods or heavy rains have been identified. Instructions have been given to complete necessary repair works on a war footing.

Availability of Materials: Sufficient stocks of ballast, gravel, and other essential materials must be maintained to handle any emergency situations.

Signaling System: Engineers have been directed to remain on high alert 24/7 to address any technical glitches in the signaling system caused by rain.

No Compromise on Safety

In a brief interaction with the media, the Senior DEN stated that the safety of rail operations during the monsoon is the Railways' top priority. He remarked, "The Khagaria-Naugachia section is a busy route; therefore, any negligence in safety standards will not be tolerated. We have deployed specialized teams to rectify even the smallest faults in the tracks."

This inspection has spurred significant activity within the railway department. Employees have been instructed to submit regular reports to higher officials. The Railways believes that these proactive preparations during the monsoon are vital to preventing major accidents. With this surprise inspection, focus has now shifted to the effectiveness of the railway administration's safety measures.
