Main Accused in Obscene Video Case Involving Minor Girls Surrenders, Gaya Police Bring Him from Patna; Investigation Underway
Gaya: In a major breakthrough in the case involving the alleged recording of obscene videos of minor girls and uploading them on social media in the Banke Bazar police station area of Gaya district, the main accused, Rehan, surrendered before the Phulwari Sharif Police Station in Patna on Thursday following sustained police pressure.
After receiving information about the surrender, a team from Gaya Police reached Patna, completed the required legal formalities, and brought the accused to Gaya for further investigation. Police officials said he is currently being questioned, and the investigation is progressing on multiple fronts.
Surrender After Continuous Police Pressure
According to police sources, law enforcement agencies had intensified efforts to trace the accused after the case came to light. Several suspected hideouts were raided, and technical surveillance was used to track his movements.
As pressure mounted, Rehan eventually surrendered at Phulwari Sharif Police Station. Following the surrender, Gaya Police took him into custody and initiated further legal proceedings.
Police Searching for the Accused's Mobile Phone
Investigators have not yet recovered the accused's mobile phone, which is believed to be a crucial piece of evidence in the case.
Police suspect the device may contain important digital evidence related to the alleged recording of videos, their circulation on social media, and other online activities connected with the investigation.
Efforts are currently underway to locate and seize the mobile phone. Cyber experts and technical teams are also examining available digital evidence and tracing the accused's electronic activities.
Detailed Interrogation in Progress
After being brought to Gaya, the accused has been undergoing detailed questioning. Investigators are trying to determine when and how the alleged videos were recorded, how they were uploaded, and whether any other individuals were involved.
Police are also examining whether the incident was isolated or linked to a larger network or organized criminal activity.
Sister-in-Law Accompanied Him During Surrender
According to police sources, Rehan was accompanied by his sister-in-law when he surrendered at Phulwari Sharif Police Station. However, officials have not released further details regarding her role, if any.
Authorities stated that all relevant facts are being examined, and anyone connected to the case may be questioned if necessary.
Police Had Tracked Him to Delhi
During the investigation, police reportedly received information that the accused was hiding in the Jaitpur area under the Islampur Police Station jurisdiction in Delhi. Based on this intelligence, a special team from Banke Bazar Police Station conducted raids in Delhi.
Police sources said that after learning about the raids, Rehan left Delhi with his sister-in-law and traveled to Patna. Meanwhile, the police detained his brother in Delhi during the operation.
Brother's Detention Increased Pressure
Investigators believe that the detention of the accused's brother significantly increased pressure on Rehan, ultimately prompting him to surrender instead of continuing to evade arrest.
Police are also questioning the brother to determine whether anyone assisted the accused while he was absconding or helped him avoid arrest.
Digital Evidence Under Examination
Since the case involves alleged obscene videos and their circulation through social media, cyber forensic analysis has become a key component of the investigation.
Police are examining digital devices, social media accounts, call detail records, and other electronic evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events and verify the allegations.
Experts believe that digital evidence will play a crucial role in establishing the facts of the case and identifying any additional individuals who may have been involved.
Protection of Minors Remains the Top Priority
Police officials emphasized that cases involving minors are handled with utmost sensitivity. Protecting the identity, dignity, and privacy of the victims remains a top priority throughout the investigation.
Authorities have also appealed to the public not to share any unverified information, photographs, or videos related to the case on social media, as doing so could interfere with the investigation and violate the rights of the victims.
Police Assure a Fair Investigation
Gaya Police stated that the investigation is being conducted in a fair, impartial, and transparent manner in accordance with the law. Further legal action will be taken based on witness statements, digital evidence, and other material collected during the investigation.
Officials also emphasized that no final conclusions should be drawn before the investigation is completed, as all available evidence is still being carefully examined.
Public Urged to Cooperate
Police have appealed to members of the public to come forward with any credible information that could assist the investigation. They also urged citizens to use social media responsibly and refrain from spreading rumors or misinformation.
The case has once again highlighted the urgent need to prevent the misuse of digital platforms, strengthen protections for minors, and enhance efforts to combat cybercrime. The investigation is continuing, and further legal action will depend on the findings that emerge during the course of the inquiry.
