Notorious Criminal Saddam Nat Arrested for Extorting ₹5 Lakh; Had Threatened Victim with Death

Gopalganj: The Bihar Police in Gopalganj district has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against extortion and criminal intimidation. Following a prompt investigation into a complaint, the police arrested a notorious criminal for demanding an extortion amount of ₹5 lakh from a local businessman and threatening to kill him if the demand was not met.

The arrested individual has been identified as Saddam Nat, a resident of Sabeya village under the Mirganj police station area.

Businessman Targeted with Extortion and Death Threats

According to police reports, the accused, Saddam Nat, had called a prominent local businessman a few days ago, demanding an extortion sum of ₹5 lakh. The accused threatened the businessman, warning him that if the money was not paid within the specified timeframe, he and his family would be killed. The threat left the businessman and his family living in a state of terror.

Police Trap Following Victim's Complaint

Gathering courage, the terrified businessman filed a formal complaint at the local police station. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Gopalganj formed a special team to investigate the matter. Leveraging technical surveillance and scientific evidence, the police successfully tracked the location of the accused.

Accused Apprehended with Evidence

Upon receiving precise intelligence on Saddam Nat’s whereabouts, the police team conducted a raid in Sabeya village, Mirganj, and apprehended him. During the search, the police recovered the mobile phone and SIM card used to make the extortion calls. Authorities are currently investigating his criminal record, as there are suspicions that he may have been involved in similar extortion rackets targeting other individuals in the past.

Swift Police Response Averts Further Crimes

The swift action by the Gopalganj police has been widely appreciated by local business associations and the public. Senior police officials stated:

"No businessman or citizen in the district needs to live in fear. We are adhering to a 'zero-tolerance' policy against extortionists and criminals. We urge citizens to report any threats to the police immediately. Regardless of how influential an offender may be, they will be put behind bars."

Currently, Saddam Nat is being interrogated to determine if he has any accomplices in this criminal network. Following the interrogation, he has been remanded to judicial custody.
