Newborn Found Abandoned in Bushes, Saved by Alert Villagers

Sabour (Bhagalpur): A heart-wrenching incident that has shamed humanity came to light on Sunday in Sardho village, located under the Sabour police station area of Bhagalpur district. A newborn baby was found in an abandoned state amidst bushes along the roadside on the outskirts of the village. The news of the baby being found spread rapidly, causing a stir in the area and drawing a large crowd to the scene.

Cries from the Bushes

On Sunday morning, as villagers were heading out for their daily routines or towards the fields, they heard a faint sound of crying coming from within the bushes. Initially, people thought it might be an animal, but when some alert villagers approached the spot, they were stunned. A newborn baby, wrapped in a piece of cloth, was lying there. The infant had been abandoned by someone for unknown reasons.

In the prevailing weather conditions, finding a newborn abandoned in the bushes was deeply distressing. The villagers carefully retrieved the baby, wrapped her in warm clothes, and brought her to safety. Witnesses noted that the condition in which the baby was left made her vulnerable to any tragedy or attack.

Prompt Action by Villagers and Police

Showing great presence of mind, the villagers immediately informed the Sabour police about the incident. Simultaneously, the Child Helpline (1098) was also notified. Upon receiving the information, a team from the Sabour police reached the spot and took the infant under their protection. With the help of the police, the newborn was rushed to the Community Health Center for medical attention. Doctors examined the baby, and fortunately, she is reported to be healthy. After primary treatment, she was transferred to a special medical unit for better care.

A Subject of Discussion in the Area

This incident in Sardho village has deeply shaken the local residents. People are demanding strict action against whoever abandoned the infant. Villagers believe that if someone had not heard the cries in time, the baby's life could have been in danger. Regarding this, the police stated that they are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning local villagers to identify the baby's family or the person who abandoned her.

Questions on Social Security

This incident highlights a dark aspect of society, where regressive and narrow-minded thinking regarding girl children still persists. However, the vigilance of the villagers saved an innocent life, proving that humanity is still alive. Child Helpline officials stated that, as per the rules, the baby will be handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), after which the process for adoption or long-term secure protection will be initiated.

The Sabour police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Local residents are now demanding that the administration identify the culprits as soon as possible and take stringent legal action against them to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
