Huge Rush of Devotees Every Year; Lack of Direct Rail Service Causes Major Inconvenience

Araria News:
During the month of Shravan, thousands of Shiva devotees from Araria and nearby regions, including Forbesganj, Jogbani, and several parts of neighboring Nepal, undertake the sacred Kanwar Yatra to Baba Baidyanath Dham (Deoghar) every year. The entire region becomes deeply immersed in devotion to Lord Shiva, with a large number of pilgrims participating in the journey.

Devotees first reach Sultanganj, collect holy water from the Ganga river, and then begin their Kanwar journey towards Deoghar. This spiritual journey is driven by strong faith and devotion, but it continues to pose several logistical challenges.

Massive Crowd Every Year

Every year, thousands of devotees from the Araria region take part in the Kanwar Yatra during Shravan month. Pilgrims fill water from the Ganga at Sultanganj and carry it in Kanwars while walking more than 100 kilometers to reach Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar.

The journey is entirely faith-driven, with many devotees walking barefoot as a mark of devotion.

Lack of Direct Rail Connectivity a Major Issue

One of the biggest challenges for this region is the absence of direct train services. There is no direct railway connectivity from Araria, Forbesganj, or Jogbani to Sultanganj or Deoghar.

As a result, devotees have to rely on multiple modes of transport, including buses and connecting trains, which increases both travel time and cost.

Severe Inconvenience for Travelers

Due to the lack of direct rail connectivity, Kanwar pilgrims face significant inconvenience. The situation becomes even more difficult during the peak Shravan season when crowds are extremely heavy.

Locals believe that introducing direct train services on this route could provide major relief to devotees and make the journey smoother and more accessible.

Faith Overcomes Difficulties

Despite all challenges, the devotion of pilgrims remains unwavering. Every year, large numbers of people participate in the journey with great enthusiasm and spiritual dedication.

Many groups travel together, singing devotional songs and bhajans along the way, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

Impact on Local Economy

During the Kanwar Yatra season, local businesses, including small vendors, dhabas, and transport services, benefit significantly. Temporary markets and services emerge along the route, boosting the local economy.

Administrative Arrangements

During the Shravan month, the administration also makes special arrangements to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims. Special attention is given to security, healthcare facilities, and traffic management.

The Kanwar Yatra from Araria and nearby regions to Deoghar is a major symbol of faith and devotion. Although the lack of direct rail connectivity causes difficulties for pilgrims, their unwavering devotion continues to make this journey significant every year. Improved transport facilities could make this sacred pilgrimage safer and more convenient in the future.
