Major Crackdown: EOU Raids 6 Locations of Building Construction Director Pawan Kumar; Over ₹3.89 Crore in Disproportionate Assets Unearthed

Patna / Bureau: In line with the Nitish government's 'Zero Tolerance' policy against corruption in Bihar, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has initiated major action today. The EOU has tightened its noose around Pawan Kumar, Superintending Engineer-cum-Director (Formulation Unit) of the Building Construction Department, in a case involving assets disproportionate to his known sources of income (DA Case).

Following a search warrant issued by the Special Vigilance Court, Patna, on Wednesday, separate teams of the EOU launched simultaneous raids at six locations belonging to Pawan Kumar across Patna, Bhagalpur, Noida, and Delhi.

Assets 103% Beyond Income; FIR Registered

Verification by the investigating agency (EOU) has revealed that Pawan Kumar abused his official position to accumulate massive illegal wealth.

Assessment of Illegal Wealth: Prima facie, solid evidence has been found indicating disproportionate assets worth ₹3 crore 89 lakh 79 thousand.

Exceeding Known Income: This illicit wealth is estimated to be approximately 103.94% higher than his valid and known sources of income.

FIR Registered: The EOU police station has registered Case No. 12/26 under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amended 2018).

Simultaneous Raids Underway at 6 Locations

The EOU has cast a wide net from Bihar to the Delhi-NCR region to investigate the corrupt official. Raids are actively underway at the following locations:

Patna: Flat No. B-305, 'Yamuna Niwas Apartment' located in North Sri Krishnapuri.

Patna: The official office of Pawan Kumar.

Bhagalpur: A private residence in Anandgarh Colony, Tilkamanjhi.

Noida: A luxury flat located in Sector-75.

Noida: Another residential location.

New Delhi: A flat in Sector-10, Dwarka.

DSPs and Inspectors Leading the Operation

According to the EOU, the entire operation is being conducted under the leadership of senior officers of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Police Inspector ranks. Officials stated that detailed information regarding recovered cash, jewelry, and property documents will be made public once the search operation is fully concluded.
