War-Footing Preparations for Shravani Mela on 'Kachhi Kanwariya Path'; Layer of Sand to be Spread Starting July 15
Sultanganj (Bhagalpur): Only a few days remain until the commencement of the world-famous Shravani Mela. To make the renowned "Kachhi Kanwariya Path" (unpaved Kanwariya route) from Sultanganj to Deoghar accessible and safe for devotees, the administration and the Public Works Department have intensified their preparations. Keeping the convenience of Kanwariyas in mind, work on cleaning, leveling, and repairing the path is proceeding on a war footing.
Cleaning and Leveling Underway with JCBs
During the Shravani Mela, millions of Kanwariyas traverse this unpaved road barefoot. In view of this, the process of cleaning and leveling the path has been given top priority. Over the past few days, JCB machines and a large number of sanitation workers have been deployed to clear dividers, bushes, and debris from both sides of the path.
According to departmental officials, leveling the path is essential to ensure that there is no waterlogging during the rainy season and to remove pebbles, stones, or any other objects that could hurt the feet of the Kanwariyas. Concerned engineers have been given strict instructions to monitor the quality of the work.
'Layer of Sand' to be Spread Starting July 15
The most significant feature of the Kanwariya path is that a thick layer of sand is spread across the entire road, making it easier for Kanwariyas to walk barefoot. According to departmental information, the work of spreading sand will begin on July 15. The goal is to transform the entire road from Sultanganj to the border areas into a "soft track" before the fair begins.
Special caution is being exercised in selecting the sand to ensure it is fine-grained and free of any sharp objects. This work will be completed at all costs before the start of the fair so that Kanwariyas can benefit from it from the very first day.
Special Focus on Convenience and Safety of Devotees
Administrative officials have clarified that along with the road, locations for adequate lighting, drinking water facilities, and medical camps along the Kanwariya path are also being selected. To ensure Kanwariyas face no inconvenience, the department will deploy special teams that will regularly monitor the roads throughout the fair period.
Local residents state that the timely preparations made by the administration this time are commendable. This "Kachhi Path" improvement campaign by the administration will bring great relief to Kanwariyas by making the long journey from Sultanganj to Deoghar pleasant.
The district administration has given strict instructions to the contractors and employees working around the Kanwariya path that any negligence will not be tolerated. At the same time, an appeal has been made to the general public not to cause any disruption to the construction work and to cooperate with the administration so that the fair can be concluded with its grandeur and divinity.
