Socialist Student Association Demonstrates at TMBU Examination Department, Raises Voice Against Irregularities

Bhagalpur: Tuesday was a day of commotion at the examination department of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU). Under the banner of the Socialist Student Association (SSA), a large number of student leaders and activists gathered at the university campus and staged a powerful protest against the alleged irregularities in the functioning of the examination department. Students allege that due to delays in examination results, late issuance of degrees, and errors in mark sheets, thousands of students are seeing their futures being put at stake.

The Examination Department: A Hub of Negligence

During the protest, activists of the Socialist Student Association raised serious questions about the working style of the examination department. Student leaders stated that the university’s examination department has become nothing more than a center for stalling students.

Addressing the protest, the Association's President said, "Students have been making rounds for months to get their degrees and mark sheets, but the officials here have no concern for their suffering. Students are tired of hearing the same excuses every time—'work is in progress' or 'there is a software issue'." The protesters primarily emphasized the following demands:

Time-bound Results: Pending results for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses should be declared within a week.

Speedy Error Correction: A special 'Fast Track' cell should be established to correct errors in names, father's names, or subjects on mark sheets.

Degree Distribution: Students who have not yet received their degrees even after the convocation ceremony should be provided with them on a priority basis.

Heated Exchange with Officials

When a delegation of student leaders reached the Controller of Examinations' office on Tuesday afternoon, a heated argument broke out. The students alleged that examination department officials are not present in their offices, and when they are, they do not take student issues seriously.

There was also a minor scuffle between the university security personnel present at the scene and the students. The students warned that if their demands are not met within a set timeframe, they would not hesitate to lock down the university.

Crisis for Academic Future

Thousands of students from colleges in Bhagalpur and neighboring districts affiliated with TMBU are directly affected by these issues. Due to the delay in degrees, many students are being deprived of filling out forms for competitive examinations. One student, on the condition of anonymity, said, "My admission to PG is on hold because TMBU did not provide my graduation mark sheet on time. Who is responsible for my career?"

What Does the University Administration Say?

Following the protest, a brief response came from the university administration. A senior official stated that technical shortcomings are being addressed to bring examinations back on track. He said, "There is a shortage of manpower in the examination department, but we are trying to ensure that the pending results are released soon." However, for the students, this assurance has become stale, and they are no longer willing to accept it.

The Stance of the Socialist Student Association

The leaders of the Association made it clear that this is not just a one-day protest. They said, “In the coming days, we will organize 'Student Dialogues' in all affiliated colleges and expose the failures of the university. If needed, we will take our grievance all the way to the Raj Bhavan.”

The ongoing deadlock in the TMBU examination department is a sign that there is a dire need for administrative reform within the university. Unless the examination system is made digital and transparent, students will continue to be forced to take to the streets. It is the responsibility of the examination department to be sensitive toward the future of its students.

This demonstration was not only a show of strength by the Socialist Student Association but also a warning to the university administration not to test the students' patience.
