Akbarnagar/Simraha: On Friday, the festival of Muharram was concluded in Akbarnagar, Simraha, and the surrounding rural areas of Bhagalpur district with complete reverence, devotion, and a peaceful atmosphere. A large number of people from the Muslim community participated in the programs organized in memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala.

Traditional Tazia Processions and Displays of Skill

On the occasion of the 10th day of Muharram (Ashura), grand Tazia processions were taken out from the Imambaras of various neighborhoods in Akbarnagar and Simraha. Devotees participating in the processions raised resounding chants of 'Ya Hussain' and 'Ya Ali,' which filled the entire atmosphere with grief and devotion in remembrance of Karbala.

The main attraction of this event was the traditional feats displayed by local youths. Youths from various akhada (wrestling/martial arts) committees displayed incredible physical prowess and art using sticks, swords, and other traditional weapons. A large crowd gathered on both sides of the road to witness these activities. These feats by the youth were not only symbols of their bravery but also an effort to keep the ancient traditions of Muharram alive.

Message of Peace and Brotherhood

The Muharram procession in the Akbarnagar and Simraha regions emerged as an example of communal harmony. During the procession, arrangements for water and sherbet were made by local residents at several places along the route, with people from all communities participating enthusiastically. According to the elders, Muharram has always been celebrated with mutual brotherhood and peace in these areas, and this tradition was upheld this time as well.

Administrative Vigilance and Security Arrangements

To ensure a peaceful event, the local administration was on full alert. Police forces were deployed in the sensitive areas of Akbarnagar and Simraha. Led by the local station in-charge, police teams continuously patrolled alongside the procession.

Surveillance: The administration kept a special watch on sensitive routes to ensure no disorder occurred.

Peace Committee: Members of the local peace committee also made active contributions to managing the arrangements in coordination with the administration.

Discipline: Following the administration's instructions, organizers refrained from using DJs and any kind of controversial slogans, keeping the entire program disciplined.

Burial at Karbala

By late evening, the Tazias from various akhadas reached the Karbala ground via designated routes. Here, the ritual of burying (Supurd-e-Khak) the Tazias was completed amidst special prayers and mourning. With this, the 10-day mourning period of Muharram concluded.

The residents of Akbarnagar and Simraha expressed their gratitude to the police administration and the peace committee for this peaceful event. After the hustle and bustle of the day, the situation remained completely normal and peaceful in these areas until late at night.
