Jalabhishek Arrangements at Ajgaibinath Temple to Change This Shravan; Administration Intensifies Preparations for Devotee Convenience and Safety
Bhagalpur | Staff Correspondent
Preparations for the upcoming Shravani Mela have gained momentum at the world-famous Ajgaibinath Temple in Sultanganj, Bhagalpur district. This year, the administration and temple authorities are planning significant changes to the Jalabhishek (holy water offering) arrangements during the holy month of Shravan. The new system is being designed to improve crowd management, enhance security, and ensure a smoother and more convenient experience for the lakhs of devotees expected to visit the shrine.
Every year during Shravan, millions of Kanwariyas and Shiva devotees from across the country arrive in Sultanganj to collect holy water from the northward-flowing Ganga River before beginning their pilgrimage to Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar. Before starting the journey, many devotees also offer holy water to Lord Shiva at the Ajgaibinath Temple, resulting in massive crowds throughout the holy month.
Major Changes Planned in Jalabhishek Arrangements
According to administrative officials, the Jalabhishek system will be made more organized than in previous years. Separate entry and exit routes will be designated for devotees to reduce congestion and ensure a smooth flow of pilgrims inside the temple premises.
Additional barricades will be installed to maintain orderly queues, while more volunteers and police personnel will be deployed to assist devotees and regulate crowd movement.
Devotee Convenience to Be the Top Priority
Officials said that ensuring the comfort of devotees will be the administration's highest priority. Basic facilities, including drinking water, toilets, medical assistance, resting areas, and information centers, will be upgraded both inside and around the temple complex.
Considering the intense summer heat and humidity, adequate drinking water arrangements will be made for devotees waiting in long queues. The Health Department will also establish first-aid centers and deploy ambulances for emergency medical assistance.
Enhanced Security Measures
Security arrangements will be significantly strengthened during the Shravani Mela. A large number of police personnel, magistrates, and women police officers will be deployed at the temple premises, major routes, and other crowded locations.
The entire temple complex will be monitored through CCTV surveillance, with a central control room keeping a constant watch to enable immediate action in case of any emergency.
Special Focus on Traffic and Crowd Management
As lakhs of devotees are expected to visit Sultanganj during Shravan, authorities are preparing a comprehensive traffic management plan.
Separate parking areas will be designated for vehicles, and additional traffic police personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth vehicular movement. The administration aims to minimize traffic congestion and provide hassle-free access for pilgrims.
Cleanliness Drive Around Temple and Ghats
A special cleanliness campaign will be launched at the temple premises and along the Ganga ghats. The Municipal Council and other concerned departments have been instructed to ensure regular sanitation, efficient waste disposal, and an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water.
Devotees will also be encouraged to maintain cleanliness and dispose of plastic and other waste only in designated bins.
Healthcare Services to Be Strengthened
The Health Department plans to deploy additional doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff during the Shravani Mela. Ambulance services will remain available around the clock to handle medical emergencies.
Special medical camps may also be established to treat heatstroke, dehydration, and other health-related issues commonly faced by pilgrims during the summer.
Local Businesses Expected to Benefit
The annual Shravani Mela provides a significant boost to the local economy, benefiting shopkeepers and small businesses.
The administration plans to designate specific vending zones to ensure that commercial activities do not obstruct the movement of devotees. Traders will also be instructed to maintain cleanliness and comply with official guidelines.
Preparations Underway Across Departments
Administrative officials said coordination meetings are being held regularly with all concerned departments. Responsibilities have already been assigned to the police, health department, municipal authorities, electricity, water supply, and disaster management teams.
Officials expressed confidence that all preparations would be completed well before the commencement of the holy month to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.
Appeal to Devotees
The temple management and district administration have appealed to devotees to follow all official guidelines, remain in designated queues during Jalabhishek, and avoid paying attention to rumors or misinformation.
Pilgrims have also been requested to immediately inform police personnel, volunteers, or the control room if they encounter any emergency or suspicious activity.
This year, the administration is making extensive efforts to ensure that the Jalabhishek arrangements at the renowned Ajgaibinath Temple are safer, more organized, and more convenient than ever before. The primary objective is to provide lakhs of devotees with a secure environment, better public facilities, and a smooth pilgrimage experience. Officials believe that with proper planning and public cooperation, this year's Shravani Mela will be well-managed, safe, and successful.
