Husband Returned from Dubai Slashes Wife's Throat with a Sickle at In-Laws' House, Leaving Locals Shocked
A deeply tragic and spine-chilling incident has emerged from the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. A man who had been dreaming of a better future for his family while working abroad returned home from Dubai after months, only to turn the peace and affection of his own home into a pool of blood. In Nawada village under the jurisdiction of the Rajendrapur police station area in Muzaffarpur district, a husband brutally slashed his wife's throat to death amid a domestic dispute. A sickle (a sharp agricultural tool) was used as the weapon in this heinous murder. Following this sensational incident, panic has spread across the entire area, leaving everyone stunned.
Background of the Incident: Return from Dubai and Wedding Festivities
According to reports, the deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Rinku Devi, who was married to Manoj Kumar about seven years ago. The couple also has two young children. The accused husband, Manoj Kumar, had been living and working or doing labor in Dubai for a long time.
Just prior to the incident, on Sunday, Manoj Kumar had arrived directly at his in-laws' house in Nawada village. His sister-in-law's wedding ceremony was scheduled, and he had come to attend it. The house was filled with the atmosphere of an auspicious occasion; relatives had gathered, and there was joy all around. Little did anyone know that this happiness would turn into mourning and bloodshed within a matter of hours.
Demand for Jewelry and a Terrifying Midnight Dispute
According to the statement given to the police by Rinku Devi's mother, Meena Devi, after arriving at the in-laws' house on Sunday, Manoj asked his wife Rinku to fetch all her jewelry for the wedding. Since it was her younger sister's wedding, Rinku unsuspectingly brought all her ornaments and handed them over to her husband.
Suddenly, Manoj began telling his wife that he would no longer return to Dubai and would stay right there. An underlying tension began brewing between the two over this very issue. At around 3:00 AM on Monday morning, loud noises and arguments began echoing from Manoj and Rinku's room. Seeing the couple fighting, the deceased's mother Meena Devi and her younger daughter rushed into Rinku's room. With great difficulty, they pacified the husband and wife. To restore normalcy, the mother took both children with her to sleep in another room.
The Bloody Act: Slashing the Throat with a Sickle and Escaping Through the Window
However, no one suspected that the fire of anger was still smoldering inside. At around 5:00 AM at dawn, Rinku Devi's 18-month-old toddler suddenly started crying. Hearing the continuous crying of the child, when mother Meena Devi went back towards Rinku's room and called out to her daughter, there was no response from inside.
Suspecting foul play, the family called the neighbors and broke open the room's door with a push. The sight inside left everyone screaming in horror. Rinku Devi was lying dead in a pool of blood on the bed, her throat slashed with a sharp weapon—a sickle. Blood was splattered across the room. After committing the brutal act, the accused Manoj Kumar had escaped from the spot by breaking the room's window or damaging its frame/glass, taking advantage of the darkness.
Police Action and Forensic Investigation
Upon receiving information about the incident, Rajendrapur Station House Officer (SHO) Neeraj Kumar Singh immediately rushed to the spot with a police force. The police took custody of the body and sent it to Muzaffarpur Sadar Hospital for post-mortem after completing legal formalities.
Recovery of the Sickle: The police thoroughly searched the crime scene and recovered the blood-stained sickle lying near the bed, which was used to execute the murder.
Entry of the FSL Team: To ensure that evidence was not tampered with and the investigation proceeded scientifically, a technical team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was summoned to inspect the site. The team collected fingerprint and blood samples from the room.
FIR on Father's Statement: Based on the written statement given by the deceased's father, Rajendra ŕ¤ŕ¤—त (Rajendra Bhagat), a First Information Report (FIR) for murder has been registered at the local police station.
Police Hunt for the Accused
Ever since the incident, the accused husband, Manoj Kumar, has been absconding from his in-laws' house and the village. The police are conducting raids at his potential hideouts to apprehend him. Additionally, the accused's mobile phone location is being tracked to bring him under the clutches of the law as soon as possible. This horrific incident has once again exposed the brutality hidden behind relationships, where a few moments of rage destroyed a happy family.
