With the holy and much-anticipated Shravani Mela 2026, the Muzaffarpur district administration has completely stepped up its preparations. In this regard, a high-level review meeting was organized at the district headquarters, which was chaired by District Magistrate (DM) Kumar Gaurav. The main objective of the meeting was to make this year's Shravani Mela completely convenient, smooth, clean, and accident-free for the devotees. The DM has given explicit instructions to all heads of concerned departments, the police administration, and committee members to ensure that all preparations are put in place well in time so that Shiva devotees traveling along the Kanwariya route do not face any kind of inconvenience.

Key Points of the Review Meeting and Instructions by DM Kumar Gaurav

During the Shravani Mela, lakhs of Kanwarias from every corner of the country pass through Muzaffarpur to offer water at Baba Garibnath Dham and other temples. To control the massive crowd of devotees and ensure their safety, DM Kumar Gaurav issued the following important guidelines during the meeting:

Development of Basic Facilities on the Kanwariya Route: The DM issued strict instructions to ensure all basic facilities such as drinking water, toilets, lighting, health camps, and rest houses are timely provided along the Kanwariya route and all its major halting points. Specifically, robust arrangements for separate changing rooms and toilets must be made for female devotees.

Road Safety and Accident-Free Route: Orders have been given to fill all potholes falling along the travel route, repair broken street lights, and install barricades and signages in sharp turns or waterlogged areas so that the fair remains completely accident-free.

Medical and Health Services: Medical camps should be established at fixed intervals along the Kanwariya route, ensuring 24-hour deployment of life-saving medicines, ambulances, and paramedical staff so that any health emergency can be dealt with immediately.

Security and Law and Order: To maintain law and order, police personnel in plain clothes and female police officers will be deployed at key locations and crowded intersections. Strict watch over anti-social elements will be kept through CCTV cameras and drones.

Administrative Coordination and Departmental Responsibilities

To make the Shravani Mela historic and successful, the district administration has significantly strengthened mutual coordination among various departments:

Drinking Water and Sanitation Department: PHED has been instructed to regularly check handpumps and water storage tanks along the Kanwariya path. Additionally, a special team of sanitation workers should be deployed for cleanliness.

Electricity Department: The electricity department has been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the fair area and along the Kanwariya route so that paths remain fully illuminated during nighttime and no accidents occur.

Traffic Control: The Traffic Police has been activated to control the entry of heavy vehicles and prepare a route diversion plan so that traffic jams do not occur in the city and Kanwarias can proceed easily.

Better Experience for Devotees and Administration's Commitment

At the end of the meeting, DM Kumar Gaurav told all officials that the Shravani Mela is among the top priorities of the administration. No laxity or negligence of any kind will be tolerated. He also appealed to local public representatives, voluntary organizations, and members of the panda community to cooperate with the administration in serving the devotees of Lord Shiva.

These strict and time-bound steps by the administration are expected to make the journey of all devotees attending Shravani Mela 2026 extremely safe, pleasant, and smooth, setting an exemplary standard of administrative efficiency in Muzaffarpur.
