Gaya Jail's Suspended Deputy Superintendent Claims 'CCTV Footage Will Reveal the Truth', Appeals to DM for Justice
Gaya: Suspended Deputy Superintendent of Gaya Central Jail, Sudarshan Prasad Singh, has appealed to the District Magistrate (DM) of Gaya, Shashank Shubhankar, seeking a fair investigation into the allegations that led to his suspension. He has strongly denied all charges against him, claiming they are baseless and asserting that CCTV footage from the prison premises will expose the truth.
According to Singh, he was suspended without any concrete evidence. During his meeting with the District Magistrate on Friday, he requested an impartial inquiry and urged the administration to examine the CCTV recordings from the day he was accused of facilitating the supply of narcotic substances inside the jail. He said that a thorough review of the footage would clearly establish his innocence.
The suspended officer alleged that certain senior officials at the Central Jail conspired to remove him from his position due to personal and administrative differences. He claimed that he has been deliberately made a scapegoat in the case and that the allegations against him are part of a planned conspiracy.
Singh further stated that the entire sequence of events on the day of the alleged drug supply was recorded by surveillance cameras installed inside the jail. He requested that the footage be preserved and examined by an independent authority or under the supervision of the district administration to ensure transparency and fairness.
Referring to the prison raid that formed the basis of the disciplinary action, Singh said the facts surrounding the operation could also be verified by other jail officials. He maintained that the raid conducted on July 16, during which prohibited cannabis was reportedly recovered, had been officially documented and that the records would demonstrate he had no involvement in any wrongdoing.
In his written appeal to the District Magistrate, Singh sought an independent inquiry, preservation of CCTV footage, recording of statements from concerned officials, and examination of all relevant documents. He expressed confidence that an unbiased investigation would prove his innocence and restore his reputation.
The case has attracted significant attention following allegations of narcotics being supplied inside Gaya Central Jail. Acting on those allegations, the prison department suspended Sudarshan Prasad Singh pending a departmental inquiry. The incident has also raised broader questions about prison security and administrative oversight.
Singh's demand for a forensic review of the CCTV footage has added a new dimension to the investigation. Observers note that surveillance recordings often play a crucial role in verifying disputed events inside high-security institutions such as prisons. If the district administration orders an independent examination of the footage, it could significantly influence the course of the investigation.
Sources indicate that the District Magistrate has received Singh's application, although no official statement has yet been issued by the administration. The departmental inquiry remains ongoing, and authorities have stated that any further action will be based on the findings of the investigation.
Officials associated with the prison administration have maintained that the inquiry is being conducted in accordance with established procedures. They emphasized that appropriate action will be taken only after all evidence has been thoroughly examined. Should the investigation uncover negligence or evidence of a conspiracy, additional disciplinary action against those responsible may also follow.
For now, attention remains focused on the outcome of the departmental investigation. Whether the CCTV footage supports the suspended deputy superintendent's claims or validates the disciplinary action taken against him will become clear only after the inquiry is completed. Until then, the allegations and counterclaims remain under official investigation.
