Bhagalpur: Adani Power Team Meets Newly Appointed DM Alankrita Pandey; Discusses Pending Land Acquisition and Project Progress
Bhagalpur: After taking charge of the district, the newly appointed District Magistrate (DM) of Bhagalpur, Alankrita Pandey, held a courtesy meeting with high-level officials of the Adani Thermal Power Plant on Friday. The meeting focused on detailed discussions regarding the current progress of the Adani Power Project, obstacles in land acquisition, and crucial issues like perimeter fencing.
Project Progress and Administrative Review
During the meeting, representatives from Adani Power provided the DM with an update on the various stages of the power plant's construction. The officials highlighted that the establishment of the power plant holds immense potential for industrial development and job creation in the region. However, they pointed out that certain technical and administrative challenges are hindering the pace of work, which cannot be resolved without the support of the district administration.
The Issue of Land Acquisition: A Key Challenge
The most significant part of the meeting concerned land acquisition. Adani Power informed the DM that land acquisition work in certain villages (Mauzas) has yet to be completed. Consequently, this has caused delays in the installation of perimeter fencing and other essential construction work for the plant.
District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey took a serious note of these concerns and directed the relevant departments to prepare a list of all pending acquisition cases. She explicitly stated that land-related issues hindering development work should be resolved as quickly as possible within the framework of the law, ensuring the project remains on schedule.
Directives on Fencing and Security
The company officials emphasized that perimeter fencing is essential to ensure the security of the project site. They informed the DM that without clear demarcation and fencing, they are facing difficulties in managing and securing the site. The DM assured them that the administration would provide full cooperation in the demarcation process, allowing the company to proceed with construction without external interference.
Crucial Step for Industrial Development
The District Magistrate remarked that a major investment like the Adani Thermal Power plant in Bhagalpur would not only improve local power supply but also generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities. She directed the company officials to remain mindful of the concerns of local residents and to maintain complete transparency in the rehabilitation and compensation processes.
Adani Power officials termed the meeting as very positive. Following the assurances from the district administration, it is expected that the complex land acquisition process will now be accelerated.
