Youth Tragically Lost to Time: 18-Year-Old Anshu Dies of Electrocution While Fixing Motor Wire
Gopalganj (Vijayipur). A deeply heart-wrenching incident occurred on Friday in Bharpurwa village under the Vijayipur police station area, where an 18-year-old youth died tragically due to electrocution. The deceased has been identified as Anshu Singh. The incident has left his family devastated and sent a wave of mourning throughout the entire village. The entire region is stunned by the untimely demise of such a promising youth.
What Happened?
The incident took place on Friday afternoon. According to the information received, Anshu Singh was at his home connecting an electrical wire to power a water motor. During this process, he suddenly came into contact with a live wire. The high-voltage shock threw him, and he collapsed unconscious on the spot. Upon discovering him in this condition, his family members immediately rushed him to the Community Health Center (CHC) in a critical state.
Declared Dead by Doctors at the Hospital
The doctors present at the Community Health Center began treatment immediately, considering the severity of Anshu's condition, but it was already too late. After an examination, the doctors declared him 'dead.' Seeing Anshu's lifeless body at the hospital, his parents and other relatives broke down in inconsolable grief. The sudden departure of the youth left everyone present in the hospital premises in tears.
Mourning Descends on the Home
Anshu Singh was the hope and light of his parents' lives. Following his death, the family is in a state of deep shock and despair. Villagers describe Anshu as a very sociable and hardworking boy. His life had only just begun, but destiny had other plans. The sudden shadow of mourning that has fallen upon a home that was once filled with joy has left everyone shaken.
Negligence or Lack of Caution?
This incident has once again raised questions about the lack of caution exercised with electrical appliances at home. While a section of the villagers is alleging that the electrical wiring in the village is in a dilapidated state, creating a constant fear of such accidents, experts maintain that ignoring safety protocols while handling electricity often proves fatal.
Police Role
Upon receiving the news, the Vijayipur police arrived at the hospital. The police took possession of the body and sent it to the Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Station House Officer (SHO) stated that a case of Unnatural Death (UD) has been registered based on the statements of the family members. He said, "This is a very unfortunate incident. Further action will be taken after the post-mortem report is received."
Lack of Awareness Regarding Safety
This is not the first instance where someone has lost their life while performing electrical work. Such incidents frequently occur because people attempt to fix minor household electrical issues themselves.
Some Safety Suggestions:
Seek Expert Help: For any major electrical work, always call a trained electrician.
Ensure Power Cut: Always turn off the main switch before touching any electrical wire.
Use Safety Equipment: Wear rubber gloves and use proper tools while working.
Avoid Going Barefoot: Avoid being barefoot while touching any electrical appliance.
Demand for Administrative Compensation
Villagers and local public representatives have demanded that the district administration provide appropriate compensation to the victim's family under government norms. The family is extremely poor, and Anshu was expected to be the future support of the household. The local Mukhiya (village head) has also appealed to the administration to provide all possible help to the grieving family.
The passing of Anshu Singh is an irreparable loss, not just for his family but for the entire village. Losing a life at the age of 18 is painful for any society. This incident reminds us of the critical importance of exercising caution with electrical equipment. A minor oversight has forever snatched away the happiness of a cheerful home.
