Woman Files Fraud Case Against Manoj Verma for ₹5.60 Lakh; Accused Allegedly Cheated Victim on Pretext of Marriage and Job
Banka: A sensational case of fraud has surfaced in the district. A woman from Banka has leveled serious allegations against a man named Manoj Verma, accusing him of swindling her out of ₹5.60 lakh on the pretext of marriage and promising her a government job. The victim has lodged a formal First Information Report (FIR) at the local police station, following which the police have initiated a thorough investigation.
Details of the Incident
In her complaint, the victim stated that she had met the accused, Manoj Verma, some time ago. She alleges that Manoj Verma first won her trust and then promised to marry her. According to the victim, taking advantage of this trust, the accused began extracting large sums of money from her under various pretexts.
The victim further alleges that the accused had also enticed her with the promise of securing her a job in a government department. Using the pretext of job-related expenses and costs for wedding preparations, the accused systematically took ₹5,60,000 from her. The victim mentioned that whenever she pressured the accused for marriage or inquired about the job, he would constantly evade the subject.
Threats Upon Asking for Money Back
When the victim realized she had been defrauded, she demanded her money back. It is alleged that upon being asked for the money, Manoj Verma not only refused to pay but also threatened the victim with dire consequences, including death. Left with no other option, the victim approached the police.
Police Action and Investigation
The Station House Officer (SHO) stated that a case has been registered based on the application provided by the woman. The police are currently taking action against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police team is now working on tracing the accused's location and gathering further information about him.
Officials have described the matter as sensitive and are conducting a meticulous investigation into the entire episode. They are also investigating whether the accused has ensnared other individuals using similar tactics. Banka Police have made it clear that the accused will soon be taken into custody and brought to justice to face stringent punishment.
