Unique Technical Initiative by District Administration and IIIT Bhagalpur; 'E-Shravani' Mobile App Launched to Digitalize the World-Famous Shravani Mela
Bhagalpur, Special Correspondent: A historic step has been taken this year to make the journey of Kanwariyas traveling to Deoghar and the crores of Shiva devotees visiting the world-famous Shravani Mela entirely secure, seamless, and high-tech. In collaboration with the Bhagalpur district administration, young software developers and experts from the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT Bhagalpur) have developed a state-of-the-art mobile application named 'E-Shravani'. The primary objective of this digital initiative is to provide real-time updates to pilgrims traveling along the Kanwariya path, deliver immediate assistance during emergencies, and establish direct communication between the administration and the public.
Confluence of IIIT Bhagalpur's Technical Expertise and Administration
Controlling the massive crowds of devotees arriving from across the country and abroad during the Shravani Mela, while providing them with better facilities, has always been a major challenge for the district administration.
Step Toward Digital Revolution: To find a technical solution to this challenge, the Bhagalpur district administration contacted the technical experts of IIIT Bhagalpur. A special team of professors and students from the institute worked hard to develop this user-friendly and multi-utility app.
Transparency and Security: The district administration believes that through the 'E-Shravani' app, not only will administrative arrangements become streamlined, but Kanwariyas will also receive the support of a virtual guide at every step.
Key Features and Facilities Offered by the 'E-Shravani' App
This mobile app functions as an all-in-one digital platform, incorporating several modern features tailored to the needs of pilgrims:
Live Location and Kanwariya Path Information:
Through this app, devotees can view a digital map of the entire Kanwariya path spanning from Sultanganj to Deoghar.
Precise locations of prominent halting points, dharamshalas, rest areas, drinking water kiosks, health camps, and police assistance booths along the route can be accessed with a single click.
Health and Emergency Services (SOS Button):
If a Kanwariya suddenly falls ill or meets with an accident during the journey, the SOS emergency button provided in the app can be utilized.
Pressing the button will immediately transmit information to the nearest medical team, ambulance, and police control room, enabling assistance to be delivered in the shortest possible time.
Lost and Found Center:
Amidst the massive crowds of the fair, young children or elderly individuals sometimes get separated from their families. To solve this problem, a 'Lost and Found' module has been created within the app, helping instantly broadcast information about missing persons and reunite them with their loved ones.
Administrative Updates and Weather Forecasts:
Live updates regarding traffic diversions, route charts, and special events (such as drone shows, cultural programs, etc.) will continuously be available on the app. Additionally, weather forecast updates will be provided so devotees can remain alert beforehand against rain or heat.
Download Process and Technical Accessibility
The 'E-Shravani' app has been designed so that it can be easily used by any ordinary smartphone user:
Availability on Play Store: The app can be downloaded completely free of charge from the Android Google Play Store.
Low Data Consumption: The app is designed to operate very quickly and smoothly even in areas with slow internet networks or 2G/3G connectivity, ensuring that pilgrims coming from villages or remote areas face no technical difficulties.
The 'E-Shravani' mobile app, developed by IIIT Bhagalpur in collaboration with the district administration, writes a new chapter of technical revolution in the history of the Shravani Mela. This app is not only an excellent application of modern technology, but it also reflects the commitment of the government and administration toward the service and safety of Kanwariyas. This digital endeavor has made this season's Kanwar journey even safer, more enjoyable, and better organized.
