Bhagalpur: The Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) officially commenced classes for Undergraduate Semester 1 (Academic Session 2026–30) on Wednesday. Following directives issued by the university administration, affiliated and constituent colleges welcomed newly admitted students and began regular academic activities. On the first day of the new session, many colleges organized orientation programs to familiarize students with the academic calendar, examination system, university regulations, and campus facilities.
After receiving official instructions from Lok Bhavan regarding the commencement of the new academic session, the university directed all colleges to begin classes without delay. TMBU Dean of Students' Welfare (DSW), Dr. Archana Sah, issued detailed guidelines to principals and heads of departments to ensure the smooth start of the academic year.
New Academic Session Officially Begins
From Wednesday morning, colleges across the university witnessed a large number of new students arriving on campus. Institutions welcomed the students and introduced them to class schedules, departmental procedures, academic regulations, and university policies.
Several colleges organized orientation sessions where faculty members explained the importance of higher education, discipline, regular attendance, and the curriculum implemented under the National Education Policy (NEP).
Directions Issued Following Lok Bhavan's Order
University officials stated that Lok Bhavan had instructed TMBU to begin the new academic session on schedule. Acting on these directions, the university instructed all affiliated colleges to start classes promptly and strictly follow the academic calendar.
DSW Dr. Archana Sah also directed college administrations to ensure that students do not face unnecessary difficulties related to admissions, documentation, or classroom arrangements.
Colleges Completed Preparations
Most colleges had already completed the necessary preparations before the start of the new session. Classrooms were cleaned, seating arrangements finalized, departmental timetables prepared, and faculty responsibilities assigned.
Several institutions also established help desks to assist new students with admission procedures, subject selection, identity cards, library registration, and other administrative formalities.
Students Show Enthusiasm
The first day of the session saw enthusiastic participation from newly admitted students. Many were visiting the university campus for the first time and expressed excitement about beginning their higher education journey.
Students said that the timely commencement of classes would help them complete the syllabus systematically and provide sufficient time to prepare for examinations.
Education to Follow the National Education Policy
The university administration stated that undergraduate courses would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP). Students will benefit from multidisciplinary learning, skill development, value-based education, and career-oriented courses.
Faculty members have also been instructed to complete the syllabus on time and conduct regular internal assessments throughout the semester.
Focus on Timely Academic Calendar
TMBU has placed special emphasis on maintaining the academic schedule this year. University officials said that regular classes would enable examinations and results to be conducted and published on time.
In previous years, delays in academic sessions had affected students seeking admission to higher education institutions, appearing for competitive examinations, and applying for jobs. To avoid similar problems, the university is focusing on a time-bound academic schedule.
Important Instructions Issued to Colleges
The university has directed colleges to:
- Ensure regular conduct of classes.
- Maintain timely attendance of faculty members.
- Keep proper records of student attendance.
- Complete the syllabus according to the academic calendar.
- Conduct internal examinations on schedule.
- Keep student help desks active for addressing grievances.
- Maintain discipline and cleanliness across campuses.
Better Facilities for Students
University officials said efforts are being made to provide students with an improved academic environment during the new session. Libraries, laboratories, digital learning resources, and other educational facilities are being strengthened to enhance the learning experience.
Students will also be encouraged to participate in sports, cultural activities, career counseling, placement programs, and skill development initiatives.
A Significant Step Toward Academic Reforms
Education experts believe that if the university succeeds in conducting classes, examinations, and publishing results on time, it will significantly benefit students' academic and professional careers. A regular academic schedule will improve opportunities for higher education, competitive examinations, and employment.
The commencement of Undergraduate Semester 1 classes for the 2026–30 academic session marks an important milestone for TMBU. University authorities hope that all affiliated colleges will adhere to the academic calendar throughout the session, ensuring uninterrupted teaching and a more efficient and student-friendly academic system.
