Three Arrested for Shooting Vegetable Trader During Chain Snatching Attempt in Dhanarua; Police Crack Case Using Technical Evidence

Patna: Patna Police have solved the sensational case involving the shooting of a vegetable trader during a chain-snatching attempt in the Dhanarua police station area on June 24. Three suspects, including the alleged mastermind Rajesh Kumar alias Rahul Singh, have been arrested. According to the police, the principal accused was allegedly involved in an earlier theft at the same location. Investigators identified and traced the accused using technical evidence, including CCTV footage, mobile phone data, and other digital leads. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are continuing efforts to identify any additional individuals who may have been involved.

The incident occurred near the Dardha River Bridge in the Dhanarua area, where a vegetable trader was returning home after work. According to investigators, motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly intercepted him and attempted to snatch the gold chain from around his neck. When the trader resisted, one of the accused allegedly opened fire, seriously injuring him. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident. Local residents rushed the injured trader to a hospital, where he received medical treatment.

The broad daylight attack created panic in the locality and presented a significant challenge for the police. Senior officials treated the case as a priority and constituted a special investigation team (SIT). Investigators conducted a detailed inspection of the crime scene, collected physical evidence, and reviewed CCTV footage from nearby locations. Forensic experts were also involved in examining evidence recovered from the scene.

Police officials said modern technical investigation methods played a crucial role in solving the case. Investigators analyzed mobile phone location data, Call Detail Records (CDRs), CCTV footage, and other digital evidence to identify the suspects. The technical analysis ultimately helped police trace the accused and carry out their arrests.

Following a series of raids, police arrested three suspects in connection with the case. During interrogation, investigators reportedly found that the main accused, Rajesh Kumar alias Rahul Singh, had allegedly been involved in a previous theft or robbery near the same bridge. Police are now examining his criminal history to determine whether he has links to other similar offences.

Preliminary questioning has reportedly yielded several important leads. Investigators are also trying to determine whether the arrested individuals were operating as part of a larger criminal gang and whether they may have been involved in similar crimes in other parts of the district. If evidence establishes connections with additional offences, further legal action may follow.

Police stated that the interrogation of the arrested suspects is continuing. Authorities are examining articles recovered from the accused, the vehicle allegedly used during the crime, any weapons recovered, and other relevant evidence. Officials said additional arrests could be made if further involvement of other individuals is established during the investigation.

The incident had raised serious concerns among local traders and residents regarding public safety. Vegetable vendors and small business owners often travel with cash and valuable belongings, making them vulnerable to robbery. While the arrests have brought some relief to the local community, residents have urged the police to increase patrolling and strengthen surveillance at sensitive locations to prevent similar crimes.

Security experts note that technology has become an increasingly important tool in criminal investigations. CCTV surveillance, mobile location analysis, digital records, and forensic science have significantly improved the ability of law enforcement agencies to identify suspects and solve complex cases more efficiently.

Police have also appealed to the public to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station or emergency helpline. Officials say timely information from citizens often plays an important role in preventing crime and helping investigators apprehend offenders.

Legal experts point out that offences involving robbery, the use of firearms, and causing grievous injury carry severe penalties under Indian law. However, they emphasize that allegations made during an investigation do not establish guilt. Any accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty through due legal process before a competent court.

The Dhanarua Police continue to investigate every aspect of the case. Based on the interrogation of the arrested suspects, investigators are searching for any additional gang members or associates who may have participated in the crime. Police have stated that strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible based on the evidence collected. Local residents hope that the successful operation will help deter criminal activities and enhance the sense of security among traders and the general public in the area.
