Tension Between Two Groups Following Assault and Vandalism of JCB Driver in Daharpur, Goradih; Police Camped Overnight to Monitor Situation
Bhagalpur: The situation near Daharpur village, under the jurisdiction of the Goradih police station, turned volatile on Saturday evening when a JCB driver was assaulted and his vehicle was vandalized. This incident has ignited a dispute between two factions/communities, leading to significant tension in the area. Upon receiving information about the event, a police contingent remained stationed at the site until late at night, working to bring the situation under control.
What Happened?
According to the information received, the dispute began around 5:00 PM on Saturday. Some individuals from Dandabazar village were heading somewhere with a JCB machine. When the vehicle reached near Daharpur village, some local residents stopped it on the road. The argument escalated to a point where the locals dragged the driver out of the JCB, beat him severely, and extensively vandalized the machinery.
The victimized driver immediately informed the owner of the JCB about the incident. Upon receiving the news, the owner arrived at the scene in his car. It is alleged that as soon as he reached the spot, the miscreants attacked him as well. They not only assaulted the owner but also dragged his car and overturned it in a nearby field.
Administrative Action and Heavy Police Deployment
As soon as the local police were notified, the Goradih Station House Officer (SHO) reached the site with his team. Given the seriousness of the situation, the Law and Order DSP, Navneet Kumar, was also informed. He arrived at the scene immediately with additional force and began a thorough investigation of the entire matter.
The police’s primary objective was to pacify the tension between the two groups. Under the supervision of senior police officials, a force remained camped in the village until late at night. Efforts were made to resolve the matter by calling upon prominent figures of the village and representatives from both sides to ensure peace and order.
Heightened Tension in the Area
Since the incident, an atmosphere of fear and tension has prevailed in the areas surrounding Daharpur and Dandabazar villages. Following the event, shops were shuttered, and residents remained inside their homes. The police are now working to identify the miscreants who took the law into their own hands and caused damage to public property.
DSP Navneet Kumar stated that strict action will be taken against the culprits, and law and order will not be allowed to be compromised under any circumstances. The police have appealed to the public to ignore rumors and cooperate with the administration.
The Focus of the Police Investigation
The police are now investigating the root cause behind stopping the JCB on the road. Was this the result of an old rivalry, or was it related to a land dispute? Currently, the police are recording the statements of the affected parties and preparing to conduct raids to apprehend the accused. A police picket has been deployed in the area to maintain security.
