Sultanganj: Late Night 'Pahlam' and Akhaada Performance Held Under Heavy Police and Magistrate Presence
Sultanganj (Bhagalpur): On the occasion of Muharram, the 'Pahlam' (Tazia immersion) ritual in Sultanganj was conducted with full reverence and in a peaceful atmosphere. Tight security arrangements were made by the administration for the event, which continued late into the night. Under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), the Tazia procession reached the immersion site via its designated route, accompanied by deployed magistrates and a heavy police force.
Stringent Security Arrangements
From an administrative perspective, this year’s Pahlam was highly significant. To maintain law and order, a large police force was deployed at sensitive intersections and squares throughout the city. In addition to flag marches, the crowd was monitored via drone cameras. Magistrates were stationed in various sectors to ensure that no disorder occurred during the procession. In the stillness of the night, the presence of the police provided a safe environment for the devotees, allowing the rituals to be performed without any disruption.
The Youth's 'Akhaada' Performance Becomes the Center of Attraction
The highlight of the Pahlam was the 'Akhaada' performance presented by the youth. While mourning the memory of Karbala and paying tribute to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the youth showcased their skills with traditional weapons. By displaying feats involving bamboo staves, spears, swordsmanship, and other martial arts, the youth demonstrated their valor and commitment to tradition.
A great deal of enthusiasm was observed among the younger generation regarding this performance. The chants of 'Ya Hussain' and the beat of drums and cymbals made the atmosphere somber yet spirited. Under the guidance of experienced masters, the youth performed in a disciplined manner, observed by a large number of local residents gathered on rooftops and along the roadsides.
Administrative Vigilance and Peaceful Conclusion
During the late-night immersion process, police officials continuously appealed for the maintenance of peace. Comprehensive arrangements for lighting and security were also made at the immersion site to prevent any untoward incidents. The administration stated that with the cooperation of the city's residents and members of the peace committee, this year’s Muharram procession concluded in a completely harmonious atmosphere.
A Message of Communal Harmony
This year's Muharram in Sultanganj emerged as a new example of communal harmony. People from various faiths also joined the procession and acknowledged the devotees, demonstrating mutual brotherhood. When the Tazia immersion ritual was completed late at night, the administration breathed a sigh of relief.
Local public representatives also praised the administrative efficiency on this occasion, noting that due to the tight security arrangements, the general public did not face any kind of inconvenience. At present, the situation in the city is entirely normal and peace prevails.
