Sluggish Monsoon Progress in Bihar; 'Orange Alert' for Heavy Rain in Sitamarhi, Supaul, and Araria

Patna: Despite the onset of the monsoon in Bihar, its progress remains stalled. The northern limit of the monsoon is currently stationary near Muzaffarpur, leaving districts in South and Central Bihar grappling with intense heat. In the midst of this, the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for three districts in North Bihar.

Monsoon Stagnation: The monsoon trough is currently positioned over Muzaffarpur. Due to a lack of moisture-laden winds in South-West and Central Bihar, the monsoon is unable to advance further.

Heavy Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'Orange Alert' for heavy rain today in the districts of Sitamarhi, Supaul, and Araria. These areas are likely to experience torrential rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

Heat and Humidity Crisis: Due to the monsoon's failure to advance, maximum temperatures in several districts, including Patna, Gaya, Chhapra, Munger, and Bhagalpur, remain above normal. Oppressive heat and humidity have severely disrupted daily life.

The monsoon situation in Bihar is expected to change within the next 24 to 48 hours. As the flow of easterly winds strengthens, the monsoon is expected to move southward. Currently, the spell of rain will continue in North Bihar, while South Bihar may have to wait a few more days for relief from the heat.
