Rising Theft Cases Alarm Local Traders; Three Shops Burgled in a Single Night, Police Identify Suspects

Saharsa: A series of theft incidents in the local police station area has raised serious concerns among traders and residents. On Monday night, unidentified thieves allegedly targeted three shops in the same market area, stealing cash and goods worth thousands of rupees. The incident has created panic among shopkeepers, who are now demanding stronger security measures and the immediate arrest of those responsible.

According to information received, all three shops were closed when the thieves struck late on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, shop owners discovered broken locks and ransacked interiors after opening their establishments. News of the theft quickly spread through the market, attracting a large number of local residents, while the police were informed immediately.

One of the victims, Aman Kumar, stated that the thieves stole approximately ₹15,000 in cash along with several valuable items from his shop. He estimated his total loss at around ₹25,000. According to him, the burglars broke the shop's lock and shutter before entering and escaping with cash as well as merchandise kept for sale. He informed the police as soon as he discovered the theft.

The owners of the other two shops also confirmed that goods had been stolen from their premises. However, the exact value of their losses is still being assessed. Local traders believe that regular night patrols by the police could have prevented such incidents and have urged the authorities to strengthen security in the market area.

After receiving the complaint, police officers reached the scene, inspected the affected shops, and collected evidence. Investigators also questioned nearby residents and shopkeepers. As part of the preliminary investigation, police began examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the market in an effort to trace the movements of the suspects.

Police officials confirmed that a formal case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the victims. They stated that preliminary investigations have led to the identification of several suspects, and raids are being conducted to apprehend them. According to the police, efforts are underway to solve the case quickly and bring those responsible to justice.

Local traders said that theft cases have increased noticeably in recent months, with shops, warehouses, and even residential properties becoming frequent targets. They expressed concern that the growing number of such incidents has created a sense of insecurity among business owners. They demanded increased police patrolling during the night and the deployment of additional security personnel in sensitive market areas.

Following the incident, members of the local business community held a meeting to discuss security arrangements. Several shopkeepers decided to strengthen security at their establishments by installing modern CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and stronger shutters. They emphasized that while police action is essential, traders must also take preventive measures to protect their businesses.

Crime prevention experts believe that tackling the rising number of thefts requires both regular police patrolling and improved technological surveillance. High-quality CCTV systems, better street lighting, and close coordination between the police and the business community can significantly improve security and make it easier to identify and arrest criminals.

Residents have also appealed to the administration to ensure regular night patrols and swift action against offenders. They warned that if prompt and strict measures are not taken, theft cases may continue to rise. Some local citizens also suggested establishing a permanent police assistance center in the market area to improve public safety.

The police have appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity or information related to the incident. Officials assured residents that the identity of informants would remain confidential and that every lead would be investigated thoroughly. They also reaffirmed their commitment to taking strict legal action against those found responsible.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over the security of commercial areas in the region. Traders believe that maintaining effective law and order is essential for protecting businesses and sustaining economic activity. Repeated thefts, they warned, could negatively affect both local commerce and public confidence.

Police investigations are currently ongoing, and search operations are continuing to locate and arrest the suspects. Traders and residents remain hopeful that the case will be solved soon and that stronger security measures will be introduced to prevent similar incidents in the future.
