Railway Begins Shifting Offices to CTB Building Ahead of Platform 1 Redevelopment

Muzaffarpur: The Indian Railways has taken another significant step toward the modernization of Muzaffarpur Junction under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. To facilitate the redevelopment of Platform 1, the railway administration has started relocating several offices from the station premises to the newly designated CTB (Crew/Control Terminal Building). On the first day of the relocation drive, the Chief Commercial Inspector (CCI) office was successfully shifted. The Operating Department's office is also expected to be moved in the coming days.

Railway officials said the relocation is necessary to ensure that the Platform 1 redevelopment project begins on schedule without any operational obstacles. Once all the concerned offices are shifted, the construction site will be handed over to the executing agency.

Redevelopment Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Muzaffarpur Junction is one of the busiest railway stations in North Bihar, serving thousands of passengers every day. With rising passenger traffic and the need for improved infrastructure, the station is being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a nationwide initiative to modernize railway stations.

As part of the project, Platform 1 will undergo extensive redevelopment. The station will be equipped with modern passenger amenities, upgraded waiting halls, improved entry and exit gates, digital information systems, enhanced lighting, new flooring, better drainage facilities, and improved accessibility.

CCI Office Shifted on the First Day

The relocation process began with the transfer of the Chief Commercial Inspector (CCI) office to the CTB building. Railway staff carefully moved official documents, computers, furniture, and other essential equipment to the new location.

Officials ensured that the relocation did not disrupt day-to-day railway operations. Detailed planning had been carried out in advance to maintain uninterrupted services throughout the transition.

Operating Department to Be Shifted Soon

According to railway authorities, the Operating Department's office will be relocated shortly. Other offices situated near Platform 1 will also be shifted in phases, depending on operational requirements.

Once the relocation is complete, the reconstruction and modernization work on Platform 1 will begin at full pace. The railway aims to complete the project within the scheduled timeline.

Area Being Cleared for Construction

Railway officials stated that the existing offices near Platform 1 occupy space required for the redevelopment project. Therefore, they are being relocated to provide the construction agency with adequate working space.

After the offices are moved, old structures will be dismantled and large-scale construction activities will commence, helping ensure timely completion of the project.

Passengers to Benefit from Modern Facilities

Upon completion of the redevelopment, passengers will enjoy significantly improved facilities, including:

  • Spacious and modern waiting halls.
  • Better seating arrangements for passengers.
  • Advanced digital display and passenger information systems.
  • Improved accessibility for differently-abled travelers.
  • Enhanced lighting and upgraded security infrastructure.
  • Better cleanliness and sanitation facilities.
  • More organized entry and exit points for smoother passenger movement.

These improvements are expected to provide a safer, more comfortable, and more convenient travel experience.

Better Working Environment for Railway Staff

The relocation is not only essential for construction but will also provide railway employees with a more modern working environment. The CTB building offers improved office spaces, enhanced digital infrastructure, better communication facilities, and upgraded workplace amenities.

Railway officials believe that improved office infrastructure will enhance staff efficiency and ultimately lead to better passenger services.

Redevelopment to Be Carried Out in Phases

The railway administration has clarified that the station redevelopment will be executed in phases to minimize disruption to train operations and passenger movement. Temporary arrangements for offices and station access will be made whenever necessary to ensure that regular railway services continue smoothly.

A Major Infrastructure Project for North Bihar

Muzaffarpur Junction is a key railway hub in North Bihar, connecting the region with major cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Patna, and Guwahati. The station's modernization is therefore considered a major infrastructure project for the region.

Railway officials said that once the redevelopment is completed, the station's capacity will increase significantly, and passengers will enjoy world-class facilities. Besides improving travel convenience, the project is expected to enhance Muzaffarpur's identity as one of the region's most modern railway stations.

The commencement of office relocation ahead of Platform 1's redevelopment marks an important milestone in this ambitious project. If completed on schedule, Muzaffarpur Junction is expected to emerge as one of the most advanced railway stations in North Bihar.
