Preparations by Munger District Administration in Full Swing; Kanwariya Path to be Equipped with Tent Cities, Security Forces, and Modern Cameras; Robust Arrangements for Devotees' Convenience
Munger: With just three days remaining for the arrival of the holy month of Shravan (Sawan), the Munger district administration is fully alert and prepared to welcome the millions of Shiva devotees (Kanwarias) embarking on their journey to Baba Baidyanath Dham and to ensure their safe pilgrimage. The administration is working on a war footing to complete preparations for security, cleanliness, lighting, health services, and other essential amenities along the Kanwariya path in a timely manner. To make this year's mela even safer and smoother, the district administration is utilizing several modern technologies, which include special decorations along the Kanwariya path as well as the installation of 'Head Count Cameras' for crowd control and security.
What are the Full Preparations? District Administration's Action Plan
During the Shravani Mela, millions of Kanwarias from every corner of the country fill holy Ganges water from Sultanganj and depart for Deoghar (Jharkhand). A major portion of this journey passes through the borders of the Munger district, which consequently increases the responsibility of the Munger administration.
Construction of Tent Cities: To provide better facilities for resting, staying, and food and drink for Kanwarias, the construction work of grand tent cities along the main Kanwariya path and key halting stations is rapidly reaching its final stage. Mattresses, drinking water, toilets, and robust lighting arrangements are being made in these tent cities.
Deployment of Security Forces: To maintain law and order and keep a strict watch on antisocial elements, police forces, magistrates, and women police personnel are being deployed at various locations. Special surveillance teams will remain alert at sensitive spots.
Use of Modern Technology: Head Count Cameras and Digital Surveillance
The hallmark of this year's Shravani Mela is the extensive use of technology. The administration has made special arrangements for the safety of devotees and accurate crowd assessment.
Head Count Cameras: Modern head count cameras are being installed at major entry gates and sensitive locations along the Kanwariya path. With the help of these cameras, the administration will receive real-time information regarding how many devotees are passing through which route at a given time. This will help tackle situations of stampedes or excessive overcrowding in a timely manner.
CCTV and Control Room: The entire Kanwariya path has been placed under the surveillance of high-resolution CCTV cameras. A special control room has been set up at the district headquarters, from where every activity will be closely monitored 24 hours a day.
Essential Amenities and Health Services
To ensure that Kanwarias do not face any form of inconvenience, special focus is being laid on health, drinking water, and cleanliness.
Medical Camps and Ambulances: Temporary medical camps are being set up at various points along the Kanwariya path, where doctors and paramedical staff will be stationed. Additionally, life-saving medicines and ambulance arrangements have been ensured for emergency situations.
Cleanliness and Lighting Arrangements: LED lights have been installed all along the route on the Kanwariya path so that Shiva devotees traveling at night do not face any trouble. Furthermore, a team of dedicated sanitation workers has been deployed for cleanliness.
District Administration's Appeal and Preparedness
The District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Munger are continuously touring the area to assess the preparations. Officials have given clear directives that no laxity will be tolerated at any level during the mela. The administration has appealed to all Kanwarias to follow designated routes, cooperate with traffic rules, and avoid any kind of rumors.
During these remaining three days of the Shravani Mela, preparations are being given their final touches, and the Munger administration is fully prepared to ensure that this year's Kanwar pilgrimage proves to be completely safe, auspicious, and memorable for the devotees.
