Politics Heats Up Again Over Withdrawal of Cases Against Student Protesters; Fresh Agitation Threatened Over Lack of Written Assurance
Patna: Politics in Bihar has once again intensified over the demand to withdraw criminal cases filed during the student movement and to release those who were arrested. Organizations associated with the protest claim that the government has yet to provide any clear written assurance regarding their key demands. Against this backdrop, Cockroach Janata Party has warned that if its demands are not addressed promptly, it will return to the streets starting from the third day after the conclusion of the Jantar Mantar protest.
According to the party, all criminal cases registered against students and supporters during the agitation should be withdrawn, and those who were arrested should be released without unnecessary delay. The organization alleges that while several verbal assurances were made during discussions, no official written commitment has been issued so far. As a result, uncertainty continues among those associated with the movement.
Party leaders argue that verbal promises alone are not sufficient to suspend or conclude the protest. They maintain that unless the government provides a clear written commitment, the movement cannot be considered fully resolved. For this reason, they have indicated that if no positive action is taken within the expected timeframe, they will launch another round of demonstrations.
The student movement has remained a major political and social issue in recent weeks. During the protests, students and supporters organized rallies, demonstrations, and sit-ins at various locations. According to the organization, protesters cannot be expected to place complete trust in verbal commitments alone. Party leaders have said that if the government is serious about resolving the issue, it should issue an official written order addressing their demands.
