Police Crack Sonu Kumar Murder Case in Danapur; Six Arrested Including Main Accused Raju Alias Kalia, Dispute Over Pistol Payment Cited as Motive

Patna: The Patna Police have claimed to have solved the high-profile murder case of Sonu Kumar, who was killed in the Post Office Lane of Imlital in Danapur. According to the police, six people, including the main accused Raju alias Kalia, have been arrested in connection with the case. The preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was allegedly triggered by a dispute over payment related to a pistol. Police officials said the case has been pieced together based on the interrogation of the accused and technical evidence. The investigation, however, is still ongoing.

According to police officials, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed immediately after the incident. The team analyzed evidence collected from the crime scene, reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas, recorded statements from eyewitnesses, and relied on technical surveillance to identify the suspects. Following continuous raids at multiple locations, the police arrested the main accused, Raju alias Kalia, along with five other suspects.

Police investigators stated that the deceased, Sonu Kumar, was allegedly acquainted with the accused prior to the incident. During questioning, investigators reportedly learned that a dispute had arisen over payment for a pistol. According to the police, this disagreement eventually escalated into violence, leading to Sonu Kumar's murder.

The police further claimed that an argument broke out between the deceased and the accused on the day of the incident. As the dispute intensified, Sonu Kumar was allegedly attacked, resulting in his death. After the incident, the accused reportedly fled the scene. Using scientific investigative methods and technical evidence, police tracked down the suspects and arrested all six individuals during coordinated raids.

The arrested suspects are currently being interrogated. Police officials said they are trying to determine whether any other individuals were involved in the crime and whether the murder was pre-planned. If further investigation reveals the involvement of additional persons, appropriate legal action will also be taken against them.

According to the police, investigators have also recovered important evidence linked to the case from the arrested suspects. However, officials have not disclosed complete details of the recovered material, stating that doing so could affect the ongoing investigation. They added that forensic reports and additional technical evidence would further strengthen the case.

The murder had sparked widespread anger among local residents, who demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible. Police officials stated that considering the seriousness of the crime, the investigation was expedited, enabling the team to identify and arrest the accused within a short period.

Senior police officers said that all the arrested individuals will be produced before the court, and further legal procedures, including custodial interrogation if required, will be carried out in accordance with the law. Investigators are also examining how the alleged murder weapon was arranged and the circumstances surrounding the reported pistol transaction.

Legal experts point out that police findings alone do not determine guilt in a murder case. The prosecution will be required to present sufficient evidence before the court, and only after the completion of the judicial process will the accused be found guilty or acquitted. Therefore, the allegations and evidence collected during the investigation will ultimately be tested in court.

The local administration has appealed to residents to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumors. Police have urged people not to circulate unverified information on social media and requested that anyone with information related to the case come forward and assist the investigation.

In recent months, the Patna Police have intensified their drive against serious crimes and illegal firearms in and around the city. Officials stated that strict action will continue against organized criminal networks and those involved in illegal arms-related activities. They emphasized that every effort is being made to identify offenders and ensure they face legal consequences.

Police also reiterated that maintaining law and order remains their highest priority. They assured the public that no one involved in criminal activities would be spared and that every case would be investigated fairly, transparently, and scientifically. Officials added that public cooperation plays a vital role in preventing and solving crimes.

With the arrest of six suspects, the investigation into the Sonu Kumar murder case has entered a crucial stage. Police are now preparing the charge sheet based on the interrogation of the accused, digital evidence, forensic reports, and other material collected during the investigation. Officials believe that further significant developments may emerge as the investigation progresses.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has demanded the strictest possible punishment for those responsible. The police have assured them that the investigation will be conducted impartially and in accordance with the law so that justice can be delivered and those found guilty can be punished through due judicial process.
