'Pensioner Samvad' Organized at SBI Main Branch, Emphasis Placed on Swift Problem Resolution and Cyber Security
Saharsa: A special 'Pensioner Samvad' (Pensioner Dialogue) program was organized at the State Bank of India (SBI) main branch in Saharsa on Friday. The primary objective of this program was to listen to the problems faced by pensioners, take steps toward their resolution, and create awareness among them regarding banking security in the digital age, especially concerning safety from cyber fraud. A large number of retired government employees participated in the program and shared their experiences and grievances related to bank services.
Main Objective of the Program
The 'Pensioner Samvad' was organized to bridge the gap between the bank and the pensioners. For retired individuals, conducting banking transactions and availing government schemes can sometimes be difficult due to technical reasons. Through this program, the bank made an effort to ensure that pensioners do not face any inconvenience and that their issues can be resolved on a priority basis.
Resolution of Problems
During the program, pensioners primarily expressed their concerns regarding submitting Life Certificates, delays in pension payments, technical complexities related to their accounts, and the bank's new digital services.
The bank management resolved many issues on the spot.
For matters that could not be resolved immediately, the relevant officials were instructed to take action in a time-bound manner.
Pensioners were informed about the simplified use of various banking services.
Special Session on Cyber Fraud and Security
In the current times, incidents of elderly people being targeted by cyber fraudsters are increasing. Keeping this in mind, a major part of this program was dedicated to 'Cyber Security'. The Regional Manager of SBI and senior branch officials shared important measures for pensioners to avoid fraud:
Avoid Unknown Links: Advice was given not to click on any messages or links received from unknown numbers.
Maintain Confidentiality: The bank emphasized repeatedly that no bank official ever asks for an OTP, PIN, or password over the phone.
Vigilance is Protection: Do not share any personal or financial information during any suspicious phone call.
ATM Usage: Instructions were given to be careful while withdrawing money from ATMs and not to share passwords with anyone.
Address by the SBI Regional Manager
In the program, the SBI Regional Manager referred to the pensioners as the bank's "invaluable treasure". He stated that the bank is fully committed to the convenience of its pensioners. He emphasized that pensioners are being encouraged to adopt digital banking so that they do not have to visit the branch repeatedly, but along with this, following security standards is mandatory. He also provided detailed information about the safe use of the bank's mobile banking and YONO app.
Positive Response from Pensioners
At the end of the program, the attending pensioners appreciated this effort by the bank. Many retired employees stated that such dialogues provide them with an opportunity to present their problems directly to senior officials, which boosts their morale. They also appeared quite satisfied with the security-related information provided by the bank.
The SBI branch in Saharsa has assured that such 'Pensioner Samvad' programs will continue to be organized at regular intervals in the future. Along with this, there is a plan to further activate a 'Help Desk' for pensioners at the branch so that they can receive any kind of technical assistance immediately.
This program not only demonstrates the service-oriented approach of the bank but also shows how, in the era of digital banking, there is a need for banks to engage in direct dialogue with their most senior customers.
