Patriotic Event Organized by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Kargil Vijay Diwas; Candle March Taken Out After Grand Tribute Assembly, Valor and Gallantry of Brave Martyrs Honored
Bhagalpur, Special Correspondent: On the occasion of the historic 'Kargil Vijay Diwas'—a symbol of the Indian Army's indomitable courage, bravery, and gallantry—a wave of patriotism was witnessed in the Silk City of Bhagalpur, alongside the entire nation. Under the auspices of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Bhagalpur Metropolitan Unit, synonymous with student power and nationalism, a massive tribute assembly and candle march were organized in memory of the immortal martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the country. Hundreds of students, youths, and council workers from the Bhagalpur University campus and various colleges across the city participated in this program in large numbers. Holding tricolor flags and burning candles in their hands, the youths marched through the city's main thoroughfares with sky-rending slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram, drenching the entire atmosphere in patriotic fervor.
Kargil Vijay Diwas and Its Inspiration for the Youth
Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed every year on July 26, holds a golden place in Indian history. In 1999, the Indian Army drove out Pakistani infiltrators from the rugged and snowy heights of Kargil to hoist the Tricolors on Tiger Hill. In this war, hundreds of India's brave sons laid down their lives to protect the motherland.
ABVP's Initiative: With the objective of keeping the spirit of patriotism alive among youths and acquainting the new generation with the sacrifices of the nation's brave soldiers, ABVP Bhagalpur organized this special program.
Honoring the Martyrs: The program commenced with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and the offering of floral tributes to portraits of the Kargil War's immortal martyrs. The speakers present one by one recalled the gallantry of all those brave soldiers who gave no thought to their own lives while crushing the enemy.
Candle March and the Flood of Nationalism
Following the tribute assembly, ABVP workers and students took out a grand candle march.
Route of the March: Passing through the city's prominent educational institutions and crossroads, this candle march witnessed local citizens welcoming the procession from rooftops and streets.
Candles in Hands and Slogans on Lips: Burning candles in the hands of the youths symbolized that even in darkness and adverse conditions, the light of the martyrs' sacrifice will continue to guide the nation. Echoes of Jab tak sooraj chaand rahega, shahido ka naam rahega (As long as the sun and moon remain, the names of martyrs will remain) and Bharat Mata Ki Jai resonated across Bhagalpur.
Speeches by Council Leaders: Emphasis on National Unity and Security
Addressing the gathering organized at the conclusion of the candle march, senior ABVP officials and student leaders discussed the country's prevailing security situation, national unity, and the responsibilities of the youth in detail.
The Spirit of Nation First: Speakers stated that the Kargil War was not merely a conflict between the armies of two nations, but the ultimate proof of India's valor, discipline, and the spirit of 'Nation First'. Today's youth must rise above social media and fleeting attractions to remain conscious of internal and external national security.
Respect Toward Martyrs' Families: Leaders emphasized that honoring the nation's brave soldiers and their dependents is the moral duty of every citizen. National development and democracy can grow robust only when borders are secure.
Call to Student Power: ABVP workers resolved to ideologically combat anti-social and anti-national elements in society, always maintaining a leading role in nation-building endeavors.
This tribute assembly and candle march organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Bhagalpur on Kargil Vijay Diwas was not merely a formality, but a powerful expression of dedication toward the country by youth power. This event once again proved that the youth of Bhagalpur can never forget the sacrifices of the nation's brave sons. Amid the twinkling of candles and patriotic slogans, this homage paid to the immortal martyrs has become etched even more deeply in the pages of history, inspiring coming generations toward national service for all time.
