Patna: The southwest monsoon has become active once again across Bihar, bringing fresh rainfall to several parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Araria and Kishanganj, warning of heavy rainfall, while forecasting very light or nominal rainfall (up to 2.4 mm) in 14 districts, including Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Lakhisarai, Nawada, and Sheikhpura, on Wednesday.

According to the weather department, monsoon activity is expected to remain stronger in the northeastern districts of Bihar, while southern and central parts of the state are likely to experience cloudy skies, isolated showers, and light rainfall. The expected showers may provide much-needed relief from the humid conditions that have persisted over the past several days.

Orange Alert Issued for Araria and Kishanganj

The IMD has placed Araria and Kishanganj under an Orange Alert due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are also expected in some areas.

Authorities have been advised to remain vigilant as heavy rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, rising water levels in small rivers and streams, and disruptions to transportation. Residents have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official weather advisories.

Light Rain Expected in Patna and 14 Districts

The weather department has forecast very light or nominal rainfall in Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Lakhisarai, Nawada, Sheikhpura, and several other districts.

Although rainfall is expected to be limited, the presence of clouds and scattered showers may help lower daytime temperatures and provide relief from the prevailing humidity.

Monsoon to Remain More Active in North Bihar

Meteorologists say that monsoon activity will remain more intense in northern Bihar than in the southern parts of the state. Continuous rainfall in Nepal's Terai region is also influencing weather conditions in districts bordering Nepal.

Districts such as Araria, Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar, Supaul, Madhepura, and Saharsa are likely to receive additional rainfall over the coming days. Authorities are also closely monitoring river water levels in these areas.

The ongoing rainfall is expected to benefit Kharif crops, particularly paddy cultivation, which is currently underway across many parts of Bihar. Timely rainfall will reduce irrigation costs for farmers and improve soil moisture levels.
