One Arrested with 40 Liters of Desi Liquor Near Kodanda Manokamna Sthan; Stir Among Illegal Traders

Shahkund (Bhagalpur): With a firm resolve to strictly enforce the complete liquor ban in Bihar, the Shahkund police have achieved a major success. On Saturday, acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid near Kodanda Manokamna Sthan and arrested an individual red-handed with 40 liters of country-made (desi) liquor. This operation has caused a stir among the liquor mafias active in the area.

Prompt Police Action Based on Secret Information

According to the information received, the Shahkund police had been receiving consistent reports that illegal country liquor was being stored and sold in the isolated areas of Kodanda and its surroundings. Taking these reports seriously, Station House Officer (SHO) Pawan Kumar formed a special police team. Late on Saturday evening, while the team was patrolling the area, they received precise intelligence from an informant that a person was transporting a large quantity of liquor.

The police immediately cordoned off the area and stopped a suspicious individual near the Kodanda Manokamna Sthan for a search. During the search, 40 liters of country-made liquor were recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Munna Kumar, a resident of the same area.

FIR Filed; Police Investigation Underway

Confirming the incident, SHO Pawan Kumar stated that an FIR has been registered against the accused, Munna Kumar, under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act. The police are now investigating where he procured such a large quantity of liquor and to whom he intended to supply it.

The SHO stated clearly, "Effectively implementing the liquor ban is our top priority. No person involved in this business will be spared. Based on the interrogation of the arrested accused, other members of this illegal network are being identified, and their arrests will be ensured soon."

Instructions for Strict Surveillance in the Area

Following this arrest, the Shahkund police have increased their surveillance in all sensitive areas, including Kodanda. Patrolling has been intensified, especially in the diyara (riverine) areas of the Ganga and heavily wooded regions. Local residents have also been appealed to inform the police immediately if they notice any suspicious activity regarding the manufacturing or sale of liquor in their vicinity. The police have assured that the identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential.

Local residents have appreciated the police for this action. People believe that such strictness by the police will help reduce crimes in society and protect the younger generation from the menace of addiction. Currently, the process of sending the accused into judicial custody is underway.
