Nathnagar Circle Police Station Building in Dilapidated Condition, Roof Leaks During Rain Concern Over Police Personnel’s Safety; New Barracks Built for Women Police Officers
Bhagalpur : The building of the Nathnagar Circle Police Station in Bhagalpur has fallen into an extremely dilapidated condition. Police personnel posted there are concerned not only about carrying out their daily duties but also about their own safety. During continuous rainfall, water leaks through the roof, making it difficult to work inside the station premises. The deteriorating condition of the old building has highlighted the urgent need for repair and maintenance.
Police personnel said that the weaknesses of the building become particularly visible during the rainy season. Water leaks from the roof in several areas, affecting rooms and office spaces. During rainfall, officials also face difficulties in protecting important documents, files and equipment. Concerns about the safety of the structure have continued to grow.
Difficult Working Conditions in a Dilapidated Building
The Nathnagar Circle Police Station is responsible for maintaining law and order and controlling crime in the area. Police personnel are required to remain active around the clock, but the deteriorating condition of the building has created a shortage of basic facilities and raised serious safety concerns.
During rain, leaking water can disrupt office work. Police personnel often have to make additional arrangements to protect equipment and important records. Persistent dampness and water accumulation could further weaken the structure.
Growing Safety Concerns
Police personnel living and working in the old building fear that its weak walls and roof could pose a risk at any time. They have stressed the need for a technical inspection and necessary repairs, or the construction of a new building.
A safe and properly equipped workplace is essential for a critical service such as the police. The poor condition of the building can also affect the morale and efficiency of police personnel.
New Barracks for Women Police Personnel
Meanwhile, there is some relief for women police personnel. A new barrack has been constructed for women police personnel, and it is expected to provide better and safer accommodation facilities. The separate and better-organised barrack is being seen as an important step towards improving basic facilities for women officers.
The new facility is expected to provide women police personnel with a better place to stay and rest while on duty.
SSP Reviews the New Barracks
The new women’s barrack has also been inspected and reviewed by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). Officials have emphasised the need to ensure better basic facilities for police personnel.
During the review, the dilapidated condition of the police station building and the need for essential improvements were also discussed. Further action is expected regarding the safety and repair of the existing structure.
Need for a New Building or Major Repairs
Given the condition of the police station building, there is a growing need for either extensive repairs or the construction of a new facility. Police personnel believe that a permanent solution is necessary instead of temporary repairs to eliminate the risk of future accidents.
A technical assessment could determine whether repairs would be sufficient or whether an entirely new building is required. The police department and the administration are expected to take further decisions on the matter.
