Mega Plan for Industrial Parks in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga, Bihar: Proposal Sent to Central Government
Taking another major step toward Bihar's industrial development, the state government has finalized the blueprint to develop state-of-the-art industrial parks in two of the state's major cities—Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga. Suitable land has already been identified at both locations. The state government has formally submitted the detailed proposal regarding these industrial parks to the Central Government for approval.
Industrial Expansion Plan in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga
Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga, recognized as two of the largest commercial and cultural hubs of North Bihar, have long been sought to be developed as industrial hubs. Under this new initiative:
Muzaffarpur: Land has been earmarked to promote large-scale industries in Muzaffarpur, which is established as a logistics and manufacturing center for North Bihar. Textile, food processing, and light manufacturing units are expected to receive priority here.
Darbhanga: Land has also been selected to accelerate industrial activities in Darbhanga, the primary center of Mithilanchal. Due to its airport and improved road connectivity, investors are likely to show special interest here.
Proposal Sent to the Central Government
All formalities related to the establishment of these two industrial parks have been completed by the state's Industries Department. After drafting the layout for land availability, connectivity, and basic facilities like electricity and water, the proposal has been sent to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and relevant central ministries.
Once the green signal and financial assistance are secured from the central government, construction work on these parks will accelerate.
New Opportunities for Industrialization and Employment in Bihar
The establishment of these two industrial parks is expected to give a fresh impetus to the state's economy:
Employment Generation: Local youth will have access to better and direct employment opportunities within their own state, which will curb large-scale migration.
Encouraging Investors: The government aims to ensure that investors easily receive all approvals under a single-window system, attracting major industrialists from across the country and abroad to invest in Bihar.
As soon as the central government stamps its approval on the proposal, land development and infrastructure construction work will begin on the ground in both districts.
