Major Police Crackdown on NH-80; Two Smugglers Arrested with 205 Liters of Foreign Liquor
Sabour (Bhagalpur): As part of its ongoing campaign to strictly enforce the total prohibition law in Bihar, the Sabour police have achieved a major success. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid on the National Highway 80 (NH-80) and seized a large quantity of foreign liquor. Two liquor smugglers were also arrested during this operation while they were transporting the illicit consignment.
A Trap Based on Secret Information
The Sabour police station had received a tip-off that a large consignment of liquor was being brought toward Bhagalpur from the neighboring state of Jharkhand. Taking the information seriously, a police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) launched a special vehicle-checking drive on NH-80. Police began monitoring suspicious vehicles. During this operation, a vehicle was signaled to stop on suspicion. Upon searching the vehicle, the police team was taken aback, as they discovered a large quantity of foreign liquor bottles hidden inside.
205 Liters of Foreign Liquor Seized
When the police conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, they recovered a total of 205 liters of foreign liquor. The discovery of such a large quantity of liquor points toward a major smuggling network. The police immediately confiscated the entire consignment and also seized the vehicle used for the smuggling.
Arrested Accused Hail from Jharkhand
Both of the arrested individuals have been identified. Preliminary interrogation revealed that both accused hail from Mahagama in the Godda district of the neighboring state of Jharkhand. The police are now trying to determine where they were planning to supply this liquor within Bihar and which major figures are involved behind this illicit trade.
Police Adopt a Strict Stance
Confirming the operation, the Sabour SHO stated that the police campaign against illegal liquor will continue unabated. He asserted that the smugglers will not be spared under any circumstances and that surveillance at the district borders has been further intensified. Following the completion of the necessary legal procedures, both arrested individuals were sent to judicial custody.
This incident has sparked discussions in the area regarding how liquor smugglers are attempting to use new methods for their illegal activities, only to have their plans thwarted by the vigilance of the police. The police are now scanning the call detail records (CDR) of the arrested smugglers to dismantle the entire network involved in this operation.
