Major Police Action Against Illegal Liquor; 150 Liters of Semi-Processed Alcohol Destroyed in Mahashay Deodhi
Nathnagar (Bhagalpur): The police have carried out a major operation against illegal liquor traders in the Mahashay Deodhi area, which falls under the Nathnagar police station jurisdiction of Bhagalpur district. Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid on Saturday and destroyed approximately 150 liters of semi-processed liquor on the spot. This operation has caused a stir among the liquor mafias of the area.
Police Raid Based on Secret Information
According to the information received, Nathnagar police had received reports that some individuals were secretly running a business of manufacturing Mahua liquor in the low-lying and densely populated areas of Mahashay Deodhi. Upon receiving this intelligence, a police team was constituted under the leadership of the Nathnagar Station House Officer (SHO). The police team cordoned off the area and raided the spot.
As soon as the police team reached the location, the perpetrators engaged in the production of the illicit liquor managed to flee by taking advantage of the darkness and the cover of nearby bushes upon sensing the police's arrival. During the raid, the police recovered a large quantity of Mahua 'Pashan' (semi-processed liquor) stored in drums.
Large Quantity of Raw Materials Destroyed
The police team on the spot drained and destroyed all 150 liters of the recovered semi-processed liquor into the flowing water. The police also dismantled the furnaces and equipment being used for liquor production. Officials stated that all materials used for the illicit manufacture of alcohol have been destroyed to ensure that production cannot resume at the site.
Police Working to Identify Liquor Mafias
According to police sources, no arrests could be made from the site, but the police have collected evidence found at the scene. Based on inquiries with local residents, the police have begun the process of identifying the traders involved. The SHO has made it clear that no person involved in the illegal liquor trade will be spared.
Directives for Strict Surveillance in the Area
There have been persistent reports of illegal liquor production in this area in recent days. In view of this, the Nathnagar police will now conduct continuous patrolling in the region. The administration has appealed to local residents to immediately inform the police if they notice any such suspicious activity in their vicinity. The identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential.
Following this raid, the police also carried out a search operation in the surrounding areas to ensure that liquor was not being manufactured elsewhere. This promptness by the police administration is being appreciated at the local level. Currently, further legal action in this matter is underway.
