Major Action Against Illegal Liquor Manufacturing in Naugachia; Police Cross Kosi River by Boat to Conduct Raid, Recover 4,000 Litres of Mahua Mixture and 140 Litres of Country-Made Liquor
Naugachia: As part of the ongoing campaign against illegal liquor manufacturing and trade in Bihar, the Naugachia Excise Police have carried out a major operation. Acting on confidential information, the Excise Police team conducted a raid at Godhi Tola, Ward-14, Nawada area under Naugachia Police Station, and uncovered an illegal liquor manufacturing setup.
The raid was conducted under the leadership of Excise Police Station In-charge Pramod Kumar Das. Since the area was located across the Kosi River and difficult to access, the police team crossed the river by boat to reach the spot and carry out the operation.
During the raid, police recovered approximately 4,000 litres of fermented mahua mixture, 140 litres of country-made liquor, and other materials used for manufacturing illegal liquor. The seized materials were destroyed at the spot by the police team.
Action Taken on Secret Information
The Excise Police had received information that illegal country-made liquor was being manufactured in the Godhi Tola area of Nawada under Naugachia Police Station limits. After verifying the information, Excise Police Station In-charge Pramod Kumar Das formed a team and planned the raid.
Due to the riverine and remote location of the area, the police team had to make special arrangements for the operation. The officers and personnel crossed the Kosi River using a boat and reached the illegal liquor manufacturing site. The sudden police action created panic among those involved in the illegal activity.
Large Quantity of Raw Material Recovered
During the raid, police found a huge quantity of fermented mahua mixture prepared for making illegal liquor. Apart from this, ready-made country liquor and equipment used in the manufacturing process were also recovered.
According to Excise Department officials, the recovered mahua mixture could have been used to produce a large quantity of illegal liquor. To prevent its reuse, the entire material was destroyed at the site.
Accused Escapes After Seeing Police
During the raid, the person involved in illegal liquor manufacturing managed to escape after seeing the police team approaching. Police attempted to catch the accused, but he took advantage of the darkness and the difficult geographical conditions of the area and managed to flee.
Police have identified the accused and started legal proceedings against him. Raids are being conducted at possible locations to arrest him.
FIR Registered Against Accused
In connection with the case, the Excise Police have registered an FIR under the Bihar Excise Act against Sada Singh, son of Rajjo Singh, a resident of Naugachia Police Station area.
Police officials said that no person involved in illegal liquor manufacturing or trading would be spared. Efforts are underway to arrest the absconding accused.
Illegal Liquor Networks Active in Riverine Areas
Several areas around Naugachia have riverine and isolated locations where illegal liquor manufacturers often try to operate by taking advantage of difficult terrain. Such areas are frequently used for hiding illegal activities.
Conducting raids in these locations is challenging for law enforcement agencies, but the Excise Department continues to carry out operations to control illegal liquor production and distribution.
Increased Monitoring by Excise Department
Following the incident, the Excise Department has decided to further strengthen surveillance in the area. Officials said that regular operations against illegal liquor manufacturing will continue.
The department is also working to improve its information network so that details of illegal activities can be received quickly and action can be taken without delay.
Strict Action Under Bihar Liquor Ban Law
Bihar has a prohibition law under which the manufacturing, sale, and consumption of liquor are banned. Those violating the law face action under the Excise Act.
The Excise Department said continuous raids are being conducted to ensure effective implementation of the liquor ban. Along with taking action against manufacturers, authorities are also working to break the supply networks involved in illegal liquor trade.
Appeal for Public Cooperation
Police officials have appealed to local residents to inform authorities about any illegal liquor-related activities in their areas. They said public cooperation is essential to completely eliminate illegal liquor manufacturing.
Officials assured that the identity of informers would be kept confidential and strict action would be taken against those involved in such activities.
