Karja Police Arrest One Bootlegger with 5 Litres of Country Liquor, Two Drunk Men Also Taken into Custody
Muzaffarpur: As part of its ongoing drive to strictly enforce Bihar's liquor prohibition law, the Karja Police in Madwan block carried out a successful raid in Borbara village. During the operation, police arrested a man with 5 litres of illegally stored country liquor and also detained two other individuals who were found heavily intoxicated. The action has created panic among illegal liquor traders operating in the area.
According to the police, the arrested bootlegger has been identified as Vinod Paswan. Officers recovered approximately 5 litres of country-made liquor from his possession. The two other men present at the spot were suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. They were taken for medical examination, where tests confirmed alcohol consumption, following which they were formally arrested.
Raid Conducted on Secret Information
Police officials said they had received confidential information that illegal country liquor was being sold in Borbara village. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the Karja Police formed a special team and conducted a raid at the suspected location.
As soon as the police reached the spot, several people attempted to flee. While some managed to escape, Vinod Paswan was caught red-handed with the liquor. The police also searched the surrounding area for additional contraband.
Although no large quantity of liquor was recovered during the search, investigators collected evidence suggesting the involvement of other individuals in the illegal liquor trade. Police have launched efforts to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects.
Two Men Found Drunk During the Operation
During the raid, officers noticed suspicious behavior from two men present at the location. They appeared unsteady and were unable to respond properly to police questioning. Both were taken into custody and sent to a nearby government hospital for medical examination.
The medical reports confirmed that they had consumed alcohol. Consequently, cases were registered against them under the provisions of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, and legal proceedings were initiated before sending them to judicial custody.
Police Continue Strict Enforcement of Prohibition
Despite the complete prohibition on alcohol in Bihar, incidents of illegal manufacturing, smuggling, sale, and consumption of liquor continue to surface from time to time. To curb such activities, the Karja Police have intensified enforcement operations across the region.
Police officials stated that no person involved in the illegal liquor business will be spared. Regular raids are being conducted based on intelligence inputs, and strict legal action is being taken against violators of the prohibition law.
Appeal to the Public
The police have appealed to local residents to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any information related to the illegal production, storage, transportation, sale, or consumption of liquor. Officials assured that the identity of informants would be kept completely confidential.
They emphasized that public participation is essential for the successful implementation of the state's prohibition policy.
Special Anti-Liquor Drive Continues
Muzaffarpur Police have been conducting a district-wide special campaign against illegal liquor activities in recent weeks. Several raids have been carried out across different police station areas, leading to the arrest of multiple bootleggers and the seizure of both country-made and foreign liquor.
Officials noted that the risk of liquor smuggling often increases during festive seasons and special occasions. Therefore, surveillance has been intensified in villages, border areas, and other sensitive locations to prevent illegal transportation and distribution.
Legal Proceedings Underway
The Karja Police have registered an FIR against Vinod Paswan under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act for possessing and allegedly trafficking illegal country liquor. Separate cases have also been filed against the two men found consuming alcohol.
Investigators are now trying to determine the source of the seized liquor and whether a larger smuggling network is operating in the area. Police are questioning the arrested accused, and based on the information gathered, further raids may be conducted at other suspected locations.
Administration Sends a Strong Message
The latest action by the Karja Police is being viewed as another significant step toward the strict enforcement of Bihar's prohibition law. The administration has reiterated that anyone involved in the illegal production, transportation, storage, sale, or consumption of liquor will face stringent legal action.
Police officials confirmed that similar enforcement drives will continue across the district. Local residents have welcomed the operation and expressed hope that sustained police action will effectively curb the illegal liquor trade in the region.
