Kamtaul Police Arrest Man in Land Dispute Case, Seize 44.4 Litres of Nepali Liquor During Raid
Darbhanga: Kamtaul Police in Bihar's Darbhanga district carried out two major operations as part of its drive to maintain law and order and curb illegal activities. In the first case, police arrested Santosh Sharma in connection with a land dispute that had earlier resulted in a violent clash between two groups. In a separate operation, police conducted a raid in the Rajoun Chaur area and seized 44.4 litres of Nepali liquor. Legal proceedings have been initiated in both cases.
According to police officials, the first action was related to a case of assault arising out of a land dispute, while the second was part of an ongoing campaign against the illegal liquor trade. Investigations into both matters are continuing.
Arrest in Land Dispute Case
According to officials, a dispute over land ownership had recently escalated into a violent confrontation between two groups in the Kamtaul police station area. The altercation resulted in physical assault, prompting police intervention.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot, brought the situation under control, and registered cases based on complaints filed by both sides. During the course of the investigation, Santosh Sharma was arrested in connection with the case.
Police stated that the role of other accused persons is also being examined, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

However, the suspected smugglers managed to flee before the police arrived. The seized liquor has been confiscated, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved.

Police officials said they are trying to determine the source and intended destination of the seized liquor, as well as identify the individuals involved in the smuggling network.

Action Under Prohibition Law
Since Bihar enforces total prohibition, the manufacture, transportation, storage, and sale of liquor are prohibited under state law. Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act in connection with the seizure of the Nepali liquor.
Officials added that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved during the course of the investigation.
