Increased Movement of Officials Accelerates Preparations at Namami Gange Ghat; Sultanganj Gears Up to Welcome Devotees

Sultanganj (Bhagalpur): With only a few days left before the commencement of the world-famous Shravani Mela 2026, preparations in Sultanganj are in full swing. The increased frequency of visits by district administration and departmental officials to the 'Namami Gange Ghat' on the banks of the Uttarvahini Ganga has significantly accelerated the pace of arrangements. This year, the administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure safety, cleanliness, and convenience for the devotees.

Intensive Inspections and Administrative Activity

Over the past few days, a constant presence of administrative officials has been observed in Sultanganj. District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey and Senior Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar Yadav have personally inspected the preparations by visiting the Namami Gange Ghat and the Kanwariya Path. During these inspections, clear directives were issued to the Municipal Council, Health Department, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and the Electricity Department to ensure that all tasks are completed before the fair begins on July 30.

The impact of these frequent visits by officials is now visible on the ground. The cleaning and repair of the ghats, along with the strengthening of the Kanwariya Path, are progressing rapidly.

Special Arrangements at Namami Gange Ghat

This year, plans are in place to make the Namami Gange Ghat exceptionally safe and appealing for devotees. Key highlights and arrangements include:

Stringent Safety Measures: The poles of high-mast lights at the ghat have been covered with special 'fiber insulators' to eliminate any possibility of electrical accidents during rain and high humidity.

Shiva-Themed Decor: The banks of the Ganga are being decorated with 3D paintings and artworks based on the theme of Lord Shiva, providing a divine experience to the devotees.

Special Cleanliness Drive: Sanitation workers have been deployed in two shifts to clean everything from the ghats to the Kanwariya Path. Additionally, special arrangements are being made for efficient waste disposal.

A New Experience for Devotees

The administration has planned to provide not just security, but a better cultural experience for the devotees this year. According to the District Magistrate, drone shows and laser shows will be organized within the fair area. To provide relief from the scorching heat to devotees walking along the Kanwariya Path, tasks such as special painting and spreading layers of sand are being carried out. Furthermore, Shiva devotional songs will be broadcast throughout the fair zone to maintain a spiritual atmosphere.

There is a plan to set up 12 temporary police outposts for crowd management and security. Surveillance via CCTV cameras from the railway station to the ghats and the deployment of adequate security forces are being ensured.

The administration’s message is clear: all basic amenities, such as drinking water, toilets, and lighting, will be fully operational by July 30. Local residents and Kanwariyas believe that due to the increased activity of the officials, this year's pilgrimage will be more organized and memorable than ever before.
