Administrative preparations for the upcoming Shravani Mela in the renowned Muzaffarpur district of Bihar have already begun. Keeping the convenience and safety of Kanwariyas and devotees in mind, the district administration is seen in action mode. Recently, during a high-level meeting, the District Magistrate (DM) announced that the Shravani Mela in Muzaffarpur will be inaugurated on August 2. However, amidst the preparations, the severe problem of waterlogging within the premises remains a major headache, prompting the DM to issue strict directives to tackle it.

Deadline Stipulation: To make the fair site completely sound and safe, the District Magistrate has given clear instructions that all construction and cleaning work must be completed by all means before December 30.

Waterlogging Problem and Dilapidated State of Tents
The age-old problem of waterlogging in and around the fair premises is once again exposing administrative claims, raising concerns among devotees.
Crisis of Waterlogging: The problem of waterlogging persists in many parts of the fair area. Even with light rain, the entire premises transforms into a pond, completely disrupting movement.
Difficulty Sitting in Tents: According to local residents and experiences from past arrangements, water accumulates inside the resting tents constructed during rains, making it extremely difficult for Kanwariyas and devotees to sit or rest there.
Mud and Stench: Due to the lack of proper water drainage arrangements, mud and heavy stench spread across waterlogged locations, which can also prove dangerous from a health perspective.
Administrative Challenges and Efforts for Solutions
To deal with this critical problem of waterlogging and water drainage, several major challenges stand before the district administration:
Improvement of Drainage System: The DM has instructed officials of the Municipal Corporation and BUIDCO to immediately develop an effective drainage system around the fair premises.
Earth Filling and Leveling: The work of earth filling and leveling in low-lying areas where water accumulates has been initiated on a priority basis so that rainwater does not stagnate there.
Waterproof and Elevated Tents: Keeping the convenience of devotees in mind this time, emphasis is being laid on constructing elevated and waterproof tents so that no disruption occurs even during bad weather.
Solving the problem of waterlogging has become the topmost priority for the administration before the inauguration of the Shravani Mela on August 2 in Muzaffarpur. The DM's directive to fully prepare the site by December 30 indicates that the administration is extremely serious about this event.
