Hotel Owner and His Associates Fired Upon During Robbery in Koilwar; Gold Chain and Cash Looted, Police Launch Investigation
Koilwar (Arrah): Panic gripped Koilwar in Bihar's Bhojpur district after armed criminals carried out a daring late-night robbery on Thursday. Around half a dozen masked assailants intercepted a hotel owner and his two associates near the Mahavir Temple in Ward No. 8 of Koilwar Nagar Panchayat. The attackers allegedly opened fire four times before snatching a gold chain and cash from the victims. Fortunately, no one was injured in the firing.
After committing the robbery, the accused fled into the darkness before local residents could catch them. Police reached the scene soon after receiving information and have launched an investigation. Officers are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area and collecting evidence to identify the suspects.
Victims Were Returning Home Late at Night
According to police and local sources, Arvind, the owner of Atithi Hotel, was returning home around 12 midnight along with his friends Abhishek and Bablu on two separate motorcycles.
As they reached the Mahavir Temple area in Ward No. 8, they were allegedly surrounded by five to six masked men who had been waiting there.
The assailants brandished firearms and forced the victims to stop their motorcycles before attempting to rob them.
Four Rounds of Firing During the Robbery
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers first tried to snatch the gold chain from Arvind's neck.
When they sensed possible resistance, they allegedly fired four rounds in quick succession.
The gunshots created panic in the neighborhood, and residents rushed out of their homes after hearing the firing. Fortunately, none of the bullets struck Arvind or his companions, preventing what could have been a fatal incident.
Gold Chain and Cash Looted
After opening fire, the robbers allegedly snatched Arvind's gold chain and cash.
They then turned toward Abhishek in an apparent attempt to rob him as well.
Sensing danger, Abhishek abandoned his motorcycle and escaped through nearby lanes while shouting for help.
His cries alerted nearby residents, who immediately began gathering at the scene.
Before the crowd could reach them, the assailants fled toward the Ward No. 8 riverbank area under the cover of darkness.
Fear Spreads Among Local Residents
The incident has triggered concern among residents of Koilwar, who say criminal activities during late-night hours have increased in recent months.
Local traders have demanded increased police patrolling and stricter action against criminals to ensure the safety of residents and business owners.

After receiving information about the incident, Koilwar Police immediately arrived at the scene.
Officers inspected the crime scene, recorded the victims' statements, and began collecting physical evidence.
Police also examined the area where the firing took place and started searching for clues related to the weapons used and the escape route of the accused.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from cameras installed near the crime scene.
