High-Speed Bike Rams into Cyclist; Victim Hospitalized in Critical Condition
Muzaffarpur: A tragic road accident occurred on Thursday near Dighra in the Kacchi-Pakki OP area, once again highlighting the dangers of reckless driving in the region. A speeding biker rammed into a cyclist, leaving the latter severely injured and unconscious. The impact of the collision was so intense that the cyclist was thrown a significant distance; he remains in critical condition.
Details of the Incident
According to eyewitnesses, the cyclist was traveling along the roadside when an out-of-control bike, coming from the direction of Muzaffarpur, hit him from behind. The force of the impact caused the cyclist to crash onto the road, sustaining severe head and bodily injuries. He fell unconscious at the scene. Although the biker initially attempted to flee the scene with his vehicle, the cries of onlookers drew the attention of local residents.
Local Heroism and Hospitalization
Chaos erupted at the site immediately following the accident. As local villagers rushed to aid the victim, the biker managed to escape into the commotion. Without waiting for an ambulance, local residents quickly arranged for a private vehicle to transport the critically injured man to the nearby Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH).
Doctors at the hospital reported that the victim sustained a deep head injury and suffered significant blood loss, leaving his condition precarious. He has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is under strict medical supervision. At the time of reporting, efforts to identify the victim were still ongoing.
Dighra Emerging as a 'Black Spot'
The Dighra area has increasingly become a "black spot" for road accidents in recent times. Local residents complain that reckless speeding has turned the road into a death trap. According to locals:
Illegal roadside parking significantly reduces visibility for commuters.
There is virtually no control over the high speed of vehicles passing through this stretch.
Traffic police deployment near Dighra Chowk is negligible.
Police Response
A team from the Kacchi-Pakki Outpost (OP) arrived at the scene and has taken the damaged bicycle into custody. The police have begun reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the biker. The authorities have assured the public that the accused will be identified and face strict legal action.
Meanwhile, locals are demanding that the administration impose speed limits and install speed breakers on this route to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
