Bhagalpur, Special Correspondent: The two-day CISCE Zonal Athletics Meet, organized as a mega festival of sports and talent in Silk City Bhagalpur, successfully concluded with thrilling matchups and a grand prize-distribution ceremony. Held on the premises of the host institution, St. Teresa School, student-residents and athletes from various schools across the zone participated with boundless energy. Showcasing fierce competition and exceptional sportsmanship, the team from St. Joseph School secured a total of 256 points to claim the title of Overall Winner, while the host St. Teresa School team finished as the Runner-up with 199 points.
St. Joseph's Dominance Across Various Age Groups and Categories
Throughout the competition, athletes displayed stellar agility, stamina, and skill across track and field events. The list of champions across different age groups (Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior) is as follows:
Sub-Junior Boys Category: St. Joseph School's team emerged as champions, while the host St. Teresa School dominated the Sub-Junior Girls category.
Junior Boys Category: St. Joseph School athletes clinched the championship title in this division as well, whereas St. Teresa School girls delivered a superior performance in the Junior Girls category.
Senior Boys Category: Senior boys from St. Joseph School captured the top spot through their outstanding athletic performance, while the Mount Assisi School team triumphed as champions in the Senior Girls category.
Brilliant Performances by Athletes in Individual Events
Beyond the group championships, young athletes also proved their mettle in Individual Events:
Sub-Junior Category: Aradhya of St. Teresa excelled among the girls, while Krish and Ayush of St. Paul School shared top honors jointly in the boys' category.
Junior Category: Mahi of St. Teresa in the junior girls' division and Aarush Kumar of St. Joseph in the boys' division secured individual championships through exceptional performances.
Senior Category: Aruba Qamar of St. Teresa in the senior girls' division and Farhan of St. Joseph in the boys' division caught everyone's attention with their stellar track skills, while Vishal Kumar (Holy Family) and others also won medals in separate events.
Grand Closing Ceremony and Distribution of Winner Trophies
Victorious athletes and teams were awarded prizes during the grand closing ceremony held at the conclusion of the event.
St. Teresa School Principal Sister Teresa, Vice Principal Sister Usha, and Sister Jonsy jointly presented striking and attractive trophies to the Overall Winner (St. Joseph) and Runner-up (St. Teresa) teams.
Principal Sister Teresa congratulated all victorious participants and top-performing schools, wishing them a bright future. She remarked that sports are vital for the physical and mental development of students.
Selection of Zonal Team for the Regional Meet
Competition Coordinator Neel Kamal Rai informed the media that based on outstanding performances across various events during this two-day Zonal Athletics Meet, the Bhagalpur Zonal Team has been constituted.
This selected team will represent the Bhagalpur Zone in the upcoming Regional Athletics Meet (Bihar-Jharkhand) to be held at the prestigious St. Xavier's School in Bokaro.
The program was jointly and successfully conducted by Supam and Athar Ali. Key roles in making the event a success were played by sports instructors Murari, Rohit, Justin, Rupam, Paulina, Sebastian, Seju, Shwetabh, Achala, Nancy, Shipra, Rajesh, Deepak, and Rosemary, alongside other teachers and sports enthusiasts.
