Former Ward Councillor Alleges Stone-Pelting at Danapur Home, Claims Attack Was Meant to Stop Testimony in Extortion Case
Danapur (Patna): Tension prevailed in the Saguna Budhiya Kuan area under Danapur police station limits after unidentified persons allegedly pelted stones at the residence of a former ward councillor. Following the incident, the former councillor filed a complaint with Danapur Police Station, accusing six local residents, including Upendra and Pancham Yadav, of carrying out the attack.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly targeted the family to pressure them into withdrawing testimony in an ongoing extortion case. However, the case has taken a new turn as the opposing party has also submitted a written complaint to the police, denying all allegations and requesting a fair investigation.
Alleged Attack While Looking for Husband
The former councillor said the accused arrived at her residence searching for her husband, Jayant Kumar. When they failed to find him, they allegedly began creating a disturbance outside the house before pelting stones at the property.
She claimed the sudden attack frightened family members and caused panic in the neighborhood. Residents gathered at the scene after hearing the commotion, following which the alleged attackers left the area. Police were immediately informed and reached the spot to assess the situation.
Allegation of Pressure Over Extortion Case Testimony
According to the former councillor, her husband had previously received extortion threats, and a criminal case was registered in connection with the matter. She alleged that the accused have been continuously pressuring the family not to testify in court.
She further claimed that the family had been receiving repeated threats to withdraw from the case and agree to a compromise. After refusing to do so, the accused allegedly attacked their residence in an attempt to intimidate them.
The former councillor expressed concern for her family's safety and urged the authorities to provide protection while taking strict legal action against those responsible.
Six Named in Police Complaint
In the complaint lodged at Danapur Police Station, six individuals, including local residents Upendra and Pancham Yadav, have been named as accused. The complainant alleged that the group arrived together, abused family members, threatened them, and then resorted to stone-pelting.
She has requested the police to take immediate legal action against the accused and ensure adequate security for her family.
Counter-Complaint Filed by Opposing Side
The incident has become more complicated after the opposing party also submitted an application to the police. They denied all allegations, claiming they were being falsely implicated.
They have requested the police to conduct an impartial investigation and determine the facts based on evidence and statements from both sides.
Police Begin Investigation
Danapur Police confirmed that officers visited the scene soon after receiving information about the incident. The area was inspected, and preliminary statements were recorded from both parties as well as local residents.
Investigators are also examining whether any nearby CCTV cameras captured the alleged stone-pelting or related events. If relevant footage is found, it will be included as evidence in the investigation.
Police officials stated that legal action will be taken only after all available evidence has been examined and the facts have been verified.
