Five Injured in Separate Clashes; Cases Registered at Local Police Stations

Kahalgaon/Bhagalpur: Tuesday proved to be a day of violent unrest in the Kahalgaon subdivision of Bhagalpur district. A total of five people were left severely injured in two separate incidents of physical assault within the jurisdiction of different police stations. The first incident took place in Ekchari village under the Rasalpur police station, where a land dispute took a violent turn. The second incident occurred in Antichak village under the Antichak police station, where a family dispute between brothers escalated into a brutal clash involving sticks and clubs. The incidents have created an atmosphere of panic across the region, and the police have launched a thorough investigation.

Ekchari Village: Violent Conflict Over Land Dispute

In Ekchari village, under the Rasalpur police station, a dispute erupted suddenly between two parties during the afternoon. According to reports, the conflict was rooted in the demarcation and possession of a piece of ancestral land. When one party attempted to fence off the land, the opposing party resisted. Within moments, the argument escalated, and both sides faced off with clubs, sticks, and sharp weapons.

Three people were critically injured in this violent struggle. The victims, all local residents, were immediately rushed to the Kahalgaon Subdivisional Hospital. The attackers fled the scene as villagers raised an alarm. Rasalpur police reached the location to bring the situation under control and have registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on the statements of the victims. Police officials stated that a police force has been deployed in the village to maintain order given the prevailing tension.

Antichak Village: Family Feud Between Brothers Turns Violent

The second incident occurred in Antichak village, under the Antichak police station. Here, a dispute over family property and partition pitted two brothers and their families against each other. According to family sources, the tension over property had been brewing for a long time. On Tuesday morning, an argument broke out over a trivial matter, which gradually escalated into verbal abuse and then physical violence.

Two people from both sides were seriously injured in the altercation, including an elderly person. The victims sustained severe head and body injuries from being struck with wooden clubs. Locals intervened to calm the situation after the attack. The injured were taken to a nearby health center for treatment. Upon receiving news of the incident, the Antichak police visited the village and assured the residents that strict action would be taken against those involved in the assault.

Questions Raised Over Law and Order

Two violent incidents within a single day in the Kahalgaon subdivision have raised questions about the efficiency of the local administration. Local residents claim that incidents of violence over trivial issues are increasing in the area, leaving common citizens feeling insecure. Many believe that a lack of police patrolling and a failure to resolve disputes in a timely manner are the primary reasons for such recurrent clashes.

Police Take a Hard Stance

Following the incidents, senior police officials in Kahalgaon made it clear that no one taking the law into their own hands will be spared. The police have initiated action in both cases:

Action and Investigation: Separate cases have been registered at the Rasalpur and Antichak police stations. The weapons used in the incidents are being seized, and statements from eyewitnesses are being recorded.

Peace Committee Meetings: The subdivisional administration is now planning to organize "Peace Committee" meetings in various villages so that personal disputes can be resolved before they escalate into violence.

Warning: The police have appealed to the public not to resort to violence to resolve any kind of dispute, urging them instead to seek assistance from the local police station or the administration.

Condition of the Injured

According to information received from the hospital, all five injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment. Fortunately, all are reported to be out of danger, though some remain under observation due to the severity of their injuries. Doctors have advised the victims to rest and follow a prescribed medication regimen for the next few days.

This dual outburst of violence has disrupted the peaceful environment of the region. Villagers are now hopeful that strict police action will lead to severe punishment for the culprits, ensuring that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
