Enticed with Promise of Financial Aid, Woman Lured by Accused Exploitation Attempt Thwarted

Bhagalpur/Bajrangipur: A highly sensitive and serious case has come to light near Bhagalpur, where a woman was targeted for fraud and exploitation by someone taking advantage of her financial hardship. The victim, Seema (name changed), has filed a complaint at the local police station, stating that a man named Bajrangi had lured her to his location by promising to help her receive financial aid through government welfare schemes. This incident has sparked widespread outrage in the area.

The Web of Deception

According to the information received, the victim belongs to an economically weaker section of society and has been struggling to support her family. To gain her trust, the accused, Bajrangi, assured her that he could help her secure a substantial amount of financial assistance under government schemes. The accused told the victim that she needed to complete some paperwork and asked her to bring copies of important documents, such as her [Aadhaar Redacted].

The victim alleges that as soon as she reached the location specified by the accused, the situation was entirely different. The accused not only attempted to misuse her documents but also began exerting immoral pressure by blackmailing her.

Misuse of Documents and Threats

The victim informed the police that after obtaining a copy of her [Aadhaar Redacted] and other personal details, the accused began threatening her. He intimidated her by saying that if she did not comply with his demands, he could implicate her in serious legal trouble using her documents. The accused’s intent was to lure the woman under the pretext of financial benefit and subject her to mental and physical exploitation.

However, the victim showed presence of mind in time and managed to escape from the accused's clutches. Following this, she informed her family members and local social activists about the entire incident.

Police Investigation and Strict Safety Directives

Given the seriousness of the matter, the local Station House Officer (SHO) stated that an FIR has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the law. The police are now investigating to determine how many other women the accused may have targeted using similar lures. Raids are being conducted at potential hideouts to arrest Bajrangi.

The SHO has appealed to the general public, especially women, not to be misled by any unknown or suspicious individuals. He clarified, “There is no need for any person to give their original documents or copies thereof to any private individual to avail the benefits of government schemes. Exercise extreme caution while sharing your [Aadhaar Redacted] and other identity cards.”

This incident has once again highlighted how criminals exploit the desperation of economically disadvantaged and uneducated individuals. The administration is now preparing to launch awareness campaigns across the entire area to protect poor families from digital fraud and such forms of exploitation.

Currently, the victim has been assured of safety, and the police have intensified their investigation to dismantle the accused's network.
