Electricity Department Geared Up for Shravani Mela; New Transformer Installed at Krishnagarh Chowk; Power Supply Remained Disrupted for Three Hours on Monday

Sultanganj (Bhagalpur): Preparations for the world-famous Shravani Mela are in full swing at both the administrative and departmental levels in Sultanganj. As part of these efforts, the Electricity Department has begun strengthening its infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted power supply for Kanwariyas and local residents during the fair. The department is not only repairing old wiring but has also pruned tree branches in sensitive areas to prevent any disruptions during the fair.

New Transformer Installed at Krishnagarh Chowk

Given the massive influx of tourists and devotees in Sultanganj during the Mela, the demand for electricity increases significantly. Keeping this in mind, the Electricity Department has installed a new transformer near Krishnagarh Chowk. According to officials, the installation of this new transformer will resolve local low-voltage issues, making power supply smoother and more stable. This measure will prove particularly helpful in improving lighting arrangements in the fair zone.

Power Disrupted Due to Grid Maintenance

Power supply in several areas of Sultanganj was affected on Monday due to departmental work. Sources from the Electricity Department stated that due to essential maintenance work at the grid, power supply was suspended from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This maintenance was carried out to ensure the system is fully operational before the commencement of the Mela, preventing technical faults along the Kanwariya Path and the fair premises.

During this time, the department also pruned tree branches that were coming into contact with main power lines to prevent sparking or faults during strong winds or rain.

Department's Appeal

The Assistant Engineer of the Electricity Department stated that the department is on high alert for the Shravani Mela. A special team is being formed to ensure 24-hour power availability during the fair period, which will take prompt action in case of any emergency. The department has also urged the public not to tamper with any electrical wiring near their homes and to immediately inform the control room in case of any emergency.

Local traders and residents believe that these preparations being made by the administration are essential to make the Kanwar Yatra smooth and pleasant. For now, the atmosphere of the Mela has already begun to take hold in Sultanganj, and departmental officials, alongside the administration, are fulfilling their responsibilities with complete diligence.
