Election Literacy and Awareness Club Organized at Inter School Kharik; Students Made Aware of Voting Rights and Democratic Values
Naugachia (Bhagalpur), Office Correspondent: With the objective of strengthening democracy and fostering awareness about the electoral process among youth and future voters, an Election Literacy and Awareness Club was organized as a special program on Friday on the premises of Inter School Kharik under the Naugachia subdivision. School teachers, administrative staff, and a large number of students participated enthusiastically in the event. The primary goal of this initiative was to apprise young people of the importance of their franchise, fair voting, and the characteristics of Indian democracy so they can play the role of responsible and conscious citizens in the future.
Inauguration of the Program and the Importance of Election Literacy
The program, held in the school auditorium, commenced with the joint lighting of the ceremonial lamp by senior teachers and faculty members:
Young Voters Are the Backbone of Democracy: Addressing the gathering, speakers remarked that the strength of any democratic system depends on how actively its citizens participate in the electoral process. Particularly the youth segment, representing the nation's future, can transform the country's destiny if they become conscious of their voting rights.
Objectives Behind Club Formation: The establishment of the Election Literacy Club reflects the Election Commission's farsighted vision to impart practical knowledge about voting machines (EVMs), VVPATs, and legal provisions of the electoral process right at the school level, ensuring that students choose the right representatives independently and free from any allure or pressure in the future.
Organization of Various Competitions and Discussions Among Students
Several creative and intellectual activities were organized for the students during this awareness program:
Speech and Debate Competitions: Students fearlessly expressed their views on topics such as "The Importance of a Single Vote in Democracy" and "Fair Voting for a Robust Democracy." Through their oratory skills, the children proved that they are beginning to understand the nation's political system and electoral framework quite well.
Slogan Chanting and Oath-Taking: At the conclusion of the program, all students and teachers collectively took an oath to uphold the dignity of democracy and exercise their franchise in every election without any discrimination. Additionally, children marched through the school premises carrying placards bearing awareness messages.
Special Addresses by Teachers and Administrative Speakers
The teachers present at the event familiarized the children with the intricacies associated with the electoral process:
Message of Fearless and Fair Voting: Speakers explained to the students that this festival of democracy is not merely a formality; rather, it is the greatest right granted by the Constitution to every citizen, empowering them to choose their government. Therefore, upon turning 18, they must ensure their names are registered in the electoral rolls.
Appeal to Sensitize Parents as Well: Teachers urged the children to inspire their families and neighbors to vote, ensuring that no eligible voter is deprived of exercising their democratic right.
The Election Literacy and Awareness Club program organized at Inter School Kharik proved to be a resounding success. Such events not only cultivate political and social consciousness among children at the school level, but also ensure that they grow into empowered, authentic, and mature voters, playing a vital role in nation-building.
