Elderly Man Dies After Falling Down Stairs; Lack of Timely Help Due to Living Alone
Gopalganj: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Bhojali village under the Thawe police station area of the district, where a 60-year-old man died a tragic death after falling down the stairs. The deceased has been identified as Prabhu Rai, son of Vasudev Rai, a resident of the village. Following the incident, a pall of gloom has descended over the entire village, and the family is in deep shock.
Prabhu Rai Was Alone at Home
According to information received from local villagers, Prabhu Rai lived alone in his house. On Monday late evening, he was climbing the stairs of his house when he suddenly slipped, lost his balance, and fell directly to the ground. As no other family members were present in the house, he could not receive immediate first aid. When he did not appear for a long time, neighbors and local residents became concerned.
Fatal Injury Leads to Death
When the neighbors reached his house and checked, they found Prabhu Rai lying unconscious. He had suffered severe head injuries and excessive blood loss, making his condition critical. The villagers immediately informed his relatives and the local police. Preparations were made to rush him to the hospital for treatment, but by then, it was too late. Upon medical examination, doctors declared him dead.
Police Send Body for Post-Mortem
Upon receiving the news, a police team arrived at the scene. They inspected the area and questioned the relatives of the deceased. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Thawe stated that the incident appears to be an accident. After completing the legal formalities, the police took custody of the body and sent it to the Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The grieving relatives stated that they are unable to come to terms with how a person who was well just moments ago could bid farewell to the world in such a sudden manner.

Following Prabhu Rai's death, discussions have begun in the village regarding the safety and loneliness of the elderly. Villagers noted that due to the fragmentation of families and the younger generation living away for work, many elderly people are forced to live alone. In such circumstances, even a minor lapse can prove fatal. There is a deep silence in Prabhu Rai's family, and the village is left stunned by his passing.
